Palin's Motives

The books... the shows... the appearances. What are your guy's thoughts on why she is doing it? Monetary? Preparing for presedential run? One thing is for sure... she does a good job of deviding people.

I know her and have met her

I know her and have met her and her family on several occasions.  Heck, I've hugged the woman. Thumbs up   She's doing it because she believes in what she's doing.  She cares about the country and has little patience for political games.  She's a Reagan conservative politically, but she's also a populist -- a regular person who wants government to be run by regular people...not by a ruling class in back rooms.

In reality, the Palins are even more down to earth and unassuming than what you see on TV.  They're just regular folks.  She drives Democrats crazy because she has Reagan's knack for calling them out, instead of hiding in a corner trying to be nice.  She drives Republicans crazy because she detests insider games and has a track record for breaking up old boy networks.  Republican leadership is worried about her hijacking the party.

As far as dividing people, though, I've got to disagree with you.  She's unified far more people than she's divided.  When she was governor, her approval ratings were over 80 percent until she went on stage with McCain.  Once she hit the national stage, forces in both parties want her taken out, and the media's efforts to smear her have been ridiculous.

The media mantra has been that she's stupid, but that's classic liberal condescension toward anyone who disagrees with them.  She has a great talent for exposing the stupidity of liberal positions, so they've chosen to fight her by trying to get people to think she doesn't know what she's talking about.  But make no mistake...she's a smart cookie, and those who make the mistake of underestimating her generally have a lot of regrets afterward.

If by dividing the people you

If by dividing the people you mean divide as in separating the wheat from the chaff then I agree, but if you are implying that she divides people like an Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, people who intentionally divide people for their own gain, then I adamently disagree with you.

She has united many people who want to reclaim their government back from the politicians who refuse to represent the people.

People grasp for reasons to dislike or discredit her like she is writing books for money - so what if she earns a living?

Is she eyeing a presidential run?  You bet she is, but again so what?  I am sure if I were Sarah Palin I'd be eyeing a run, but she is smart enough to know if she is a viable candidate or if she is  better off working to get someone else elected.

I like Sarah Palin and respect her for what she has accomplished and her efforts to make America a better place.  Would I vote for her as president?  Don't know, depends on the other choices.

Wish I hugged her too!!

I tend to like anyone the liberal media tries to villify and ridicule. At least instinctively. Palin represents an uncomfortable trend (for the Libs anyway) of voters moving away from a two party system, in which both parties are aware they have failed miserably. She makes them ALL uncomfortable, therefore they ridicule and belittle her whenever possible. Her only shortcomming is inexperience in the world wide political arena. This will come with time.

Experience vs leadership

Ronald Reagan had no political experience beyond 8 years as a state governor, and he did alright.  In fact, when he delivered his classic "A Time For Choosing" speech in 1964, he'd never been elected to anything.  People keep belittling Palin's experience, but she has far more experience than the guy in office now, and has demonstrated tremendous leadership ability -- she's not just an empty suit that knows how to use a teleprompter.

Not an issue IMHO

As to her being more experienced than the current occupant of the white house I cannot argue with. As I have stated elsewhere he is monumentaly unprepared to do what it is he is attempting. All Political fugures occaisionaly say or do something stupidly human. It's only figures like Palin or Quail who get the ridicule in the press. Some of the things Al Gore has said are far worse and laughable than anything Palin ever said, yet he is lauded as a genius who is saving the planet and Palin is ridiclued. I didnt mean to imply that she was unqualified, only that she could use a bit more seasoning. In my opinion anyway.

I'll agree with you on that.

I'll agree with you on that.  She's learning to present herself in a more presidential way.  Although her normalcy is a significant factor in her popularity.  She's taking the Reagan tack on the matter and basically denying the media the power by saying, "Yeah, that's me...what of it?"  But you can bet that no matter what she accomplishes or what she might say, the media will continue to present her as unseasoned and unqualified.  Look at what they did in 2008...they painted a sitting governor as lacking the leadership experience to be vice president, while propping up a presidential candidate that never ran a thing.

I wish you were wrong

But you are correct. The funny part is the most left wing elements of his own party and the media both are turning on him like wolves on an injured member of the pack. The more extreme left they are, the more they seem to see him as a traitor. I dont know weather to laugh or not as his term is not nearly over and already he seems rendered ineffective and impotent as a leader.

Her motives are clear

I can say by watching her show she wants to show everyone she is a country woman with a huge care for here family and the country she lives in.

And I have several Liberal friends who have said they have watched her show and they all said they really liked it, so what ever she is doing I  feel is the right thing.

Good for your friends!  We'll

Good for your friends!  We'll accept all converts!!! Thumbs up

I like what she's doing.  I do think it's a little of everything.  Money, getting her name out there, etc.  But, I think it's all genuine in the sense that what you see is what you get.

I primarily think that when she was picked as Mccain's running mate, everyone basically said "who"??????  Well, there will be no more of those questions if she pops up in 2012.

I like how she's making light of all the criticism she took, even joking about it.  At one point in the Kate episode, she stood on the river bank and said something to the effect of "Know what I see if I stand right here?  i can see Russia".... lol

I like her alot.  Looking forward to seeing what she does in 2012.
