Outdoor Life Interview with Obama

The interview is very telling, especially this excerpt. Citizens of the United States, regardless in which state they live, must be afforded their Constitutional righs. You can deny a US citizen who has committed no crime, other than living in New York, their right to bear arms. Obama thinks it is ok to treat people differently.

I am sure some might argue that he was referring to the use of weapons, can't fire a high power weapon in New York City, but you can in the prarie of WY. But if you read all his comments, which are carefully worded, I think you will agree with me that he is talking about the type of weapons these individuals can own.

OL: Your record indicates that you strongly favor strict gun control in the United States. If elected president, will you push to permanently reinstate the Assault Weapons ban? If so, why?

OBAMA: I don't agree with the premise of your question. It is not correct to say that I "strongly favor strict gun control." I favor a common sense approach to guns that respects the right to bear arms, and allows local areas to put in place regulations aimed at protecting citizens. What works in New York City may not work in Wyoming.

Good quote. What he is basically saying is that the second amendment is in fact not a constitutional right granted as a citizen of the federation, but rather is a privilege revocable by the jurisdiction you happen to live in.

Every despot in history that trampled on the rights of the citizenry has justified his actions as "common sense."

You're right about Bush he has claimed down home common sense while you all thought he'd be a great guy to have a beer with.

Don't even start on the tired old Patriot Act hysteria. Your Dear Leader is out there right now threatening media outlets that dare to run comments critical of him.

Show some proof of this histrionic claim on your part!

I'm really tired of playing your game, so let me just skip ahead a few:

1) I state something negative about Obama
2) You make some derogatory comment, like it's "histrionic"
3) I refer to reports that validate it
4) You claim that the sources aren't valid because they're not on your list of approved media sources
5) I come up with a source that IS on your list
6) You accuse me of lying

At some point in there, you'll no doubt cut and paste entire articles into your responses.

Bottom line is that it's been in the media for some time. Everything from his people trying to go after radio stations carrying Stanley Kurtz to public officials in Missouri declaring their intent to go after people who publish ads they don't consider truthful enough. They've pressured media outlets to take off the Ayers ad or else. Obama has told his people to go out there, confront, and pressure media sources to get derogatory items off the air or else. It's been all over the media -- you go find it.

Of course, you'll probably make some claim that it's just good sense to step in to stop media sources from publishing things that could be inflammatory or even untrue. But that's scary stuff, there -- the first amendment protects such things. Obama's the first candidate I can ever remember that was so devoted to silencing opposition rather than answering it.

Thanks, Cowgal -- I'm getting tired of butting my head against the wall. That story pretty much lines up with the other issues I mentioned. Same pattern -- indignation and pressure on media sources to withdraw ads they deem deceptive or misleading (as defined by the Obama campaign).

Cowgal, I saw one of those ads here in Colo. It portrayed a hunter in camo filling up at the gas station and blaming Obama for the high gas prices and it said he wanted to take his deer hunting bullets. Can you provide a link or any source that will back those two claims up? If not that is a deceptive and misleading ad. But, not surprising as these are classic repub fear tactics.

You are a smart lady and know as well as I do that many, many, people don't get into politics any deeper then catching an ad on TV or what their friends are talking about at the local watering hole. All they need to hear two or three times is "that there muslim Obama feller is raising my gas prices and get this he's not only going to take my guns, which might take him a hundred years, but he's also taking my deer hunting bullets as soon as he's elected. Why hell no, am I voting for that muslim, marxist, commie, hippie, minority guy,"!!!!!!

Those tactics stink like putrid rotten flesh, but unfortunately your side has put them to good use here in the recent past. The only good thing is I don't believe there going to work for you guys, and gals, this year.

Hey, hey, well look ma no cut and paste! Whoohoo!
