The interview is very telling, especially this excerpt. Citizens of the United States, regardless in which state they live, must be afforded their Constitutional righs. You can deny a US citizen who has committed no crime, other than living in New York, their right to bear arms. Obama thinks it is ok to treat people differently.
I am sure some might argue that he was referring to the use of weapons, can't fire a high power weapon in New York City, but you can in the prarie of WY. But if you read all his comments, which are carefully worded, I think you will agree with me that he is talking about the type of weapons these individuals can own.
OL: Your record indicates that you strongly favor strict gun control in the United States. If elected president, will you push to permanently reinstate the Assault Weapons ban? If so, why?
OBAMA: I don't agree with the premise of your question. It is not correct to say that I "strongly favor strict gun control." I favor a common sense approach to guns that respects the right to bear arms, and allows local areas to put in place regulations aimed at protecting citizens. What works in New York City may not work in Wyoming.
