Just about all the states

Just about all the states that have elk require you to buy a license before the draw if you want to accumlate any points.  In Colorado you do not have to have a license but if you want a preference point you buy it for $25.00 this year.  It may change next year.  In Utah you must have at least a small game or a combination license that cost $80.00 for a year but if you work it right on the draw you can use the same license for two years but then that may also change.

The states are finding out that they can make money with out you getting any bennifets except for the points.

If you decide to try Utah I

If you decide to try Utah I can tell you of a real nice area on the Nevada border that holds some huge elk and is a draw only area except for spike hunts.  I was down there this last muzzle loader deer season witch also ran with the draw ML elk season and would of had my pick of some nice ones if I would of had the tag.
