I have the opportunity to hunt in Idaho an was trying to figure out their regs. The area is the Idaho falls region. I'm interested in an elk or deer hunt and accompanying tags. Are there only draw or is there over the counter tags?

There are both.
Over-the-counter tags are availble for deer and elk, the seasons are in the regs under "Deer General Season" and "Elk General Season".
The draw only hunts are under "Deer Controlled Hunt Seasons" and "Elk Controlled hunt Seasons".
Deer seasons are separated into white-tailed general season and regular deer general season. the whitetail tag only lets you kill a whitetail, the regular deer tag lets you kill a mule deer or whitetail. It makes a difference depending on where you hunt.
Make sure you look at hunts that are draw only. You can still put in for those hunts and Idaho doesn't have a point system like other states. So even on some of the best units you have just as much chance as anyone else. Correction they usually only give out so many out of state tags on the draw only units but I would still look into doing that.
At least i understand that, NM dosnt have a points system on our draw so the learning curve wont be so big for me to understand
