O/U shotgun

I'm interested in an O/U shotgun. I looked at the Remington spartan and the Khan. Does anyone own or have experience with either??

I really don't hunt with a shotgun so it will be used for an occasional sporting clays shoot and maybe some trap or skeet. I know there are better O/U's but I can't afford them and not justifiable for the amount of time I will use it.

Thanks

The spartan is actually the russian Baikal shotgun and by all accounts it is an excellent buy. I don't have any info about the other one you mentioned though.

ChesterGolf,

Thanks for the reply. It did have that name, Baikal, on the bottom. The Khan is made in Turkey, I think, so go from there. I just have to think about whick one. If they are about the same in quality (using that term loosely here) then the lowest cost one wins out.

Thanks again ChesterGolf

As much as I hate to refere you to a Russian made gun, the Bakail is a great gun. One of my good friends and regular hunting companions bought one for around $300 when they were imported by EAA before Remington took over the distribution of them. What I absolutely love about the gun is that it has a feature that $1000+ guns should all have but don't. It has selective ejectors/extractors. You can turn off the ejectors to make it easier to collect your spent hulls. The stock and fore end also feature a real genuine oil rubbed finish, not the matted out or bead blasted varnish finish that most new guns have today.

Overall it seems to be a very well made and quality finished gun. Not really something that I would expect from Russia or Eastern Europe or any other former communist country. I suppose it's better to shoot Russian made guns than to be shot at by them Big smile

WesternHunter,

Thanks for the input. I have asked around and comments mirror yours. I think I'll save and hit a sale, hoping sales will start soon with the holiday season coming.

Thanks again
