I drew the East Whitehorse mule deer tag this year. I am looking for any suggestions for a place to start looking. I live in Western Oregon now, so I won't have much of a chance to scout before the hunt. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
I havent hunted that unit so i cant really be too much help with first hand info. Have you used the new hunting map at the odfw website, i found it very usefull in scouting its almost like google earth but isolates the unit selected. Goole earth is also a great tool to use. good luck with your hunt and congrats on the tag.
I recently completed my first skull plate mount of my buck antelope from the 2010 season. I used a kit from Van Dykes, and I thought I would pass along the tips my dad shared with me, as well as one or two I figured out on my own. I have only completed the one antelope kit, but these tips should work for kits for other species as well.
1. Leave as much depth to the skull as possible when you remove the antlers/horns from the skull of the animal. This...
