Openning day of Bear in North Idao!!!

What a day!!! Didnt get to my stand until about 1 pm for openning day. Sat over bait which was untouched from the day before. Sat for about 2 hours and decided to use a mouth call. I think i only got 6 screams out of it and a bear came charging down the mountain. Thought a moose was rolling down sideways! Very loud. I could hear it breathing hard but couldnt see it. About 20 minuteslater(i thought it was gone) I took a step back and saw the bear about 35 ft behind me , i turned drew back but it ran off. Again thought it was gone, but this time he came infront of me. He walked (in the woods) about 60 ft from me and sat down like a dog, then laid down. I stood as motionless as i could,...not sure if i moved a little or what but the bear growled and charged full speeed for about 15 ft. I almost died!!! He stepped back about 4 ft then came around a small tree and walked out broadside at 45 ft. I drew back and sank an arrow perfectly. Maybe a little high but it did the job. Beautiful chocolate bear. My first bear ever and first animal taken with a bow...on openning day!
Sorry for the whole story , but obviously very excited. Going Elk hunting for thing in the morning then off to the taxidermist for the bear rug! Will add pictures tomorrow!! Good hunting everyone and for those who give me advise on here thanks Very much.

BBD, That sounded hairy! I'm glad you got him and not the other way around. Sounds like that bear was trouble, did it wind you, kinda seems like he was confused and try to bluff you? Great story and I'm looking forward to the photos. Thumbs up

Finally got the pictures here. Took the bear to get checked in and they said it was 6 years old and 270# . Beautiful Chocolate / Cinnamon phase. The Taxidermist measured it at exactly 5 ft. I have to say it had to be one of the best hunting experiences in my life. The "buck fever " excitement mixed with the fear and adrenaline , plus waiting about 45 minutes for the perfect shot was incredible. Anyways, hope you enjoy the photos. Would love to see everyone elses kills this season. Still trying for my first elk. Not sure if i could fit that in the back of the Lexus! Might be time to get a pick up! Well hope everyone has a great season. Bear down....Elk and Deer to go, then another Long year until season comes again. Wish we could hunt everyday!
(If the pictures dont seem clear, just click on them and they somehow become clear when the blow up)

BBD, what mouth call did you use to get him to charge in there like that? I am planning on getting out there in the spring. Beautiful bear!! My wife's brother got a cinnamon colored one this spring up off Bunco Mountain outside of Athol.
