Opening day rapidly approches

Oh My, three more days until private land cow elk starts. Got lots of pictures on the game cameras now if they just keep up the same routine we should have some fresh elk in the freezer soon. Need to get the elk out of the way so I can concentrate on the Sept. bear permit. Good luck to all going out and remember to give praise for the bounty that we have received.

Good luck too all, only 25

Good luck too all, only 25 days until we leave for camp and 26 until we can be in the woods hunting. Looking forward to being up in the high country chasing elk and deer.

Scored!

8/17/2004 7:15 pm cow elk down. Gave thanks to the Lord for providing the food. Will be lots of good eating. Now to concentrate on the bear season starting Labor Day.
The hunt wasn't nothing spectacular. Was watching a mulie buck and the cow walked into the meadow following the buck. Didn't wait to see if there were more. I knew this one was going in my freezer.

Congradulations on the cow.

Congradulations on the cow.  I have learned not to pass any of them up or you may not see one again for a few days.  When you are hunting for meat for the freezer the first one that comes within rifle range is usually the first one to go down.

Thanks Critter, yes a lesson

Thanks Critter, yes a lesson learned many years ago. Don't wait for a younger one, a bigger one etc. Shoot and put it in the freezer. Sorry I mistyped the date above should be 8/17/2014.
