Opening Day Of Deer Season

How many of you will be hunting on opening day of deer season. Since I started bow hunting I only missed opening day one time and that is because I was out of state for one year. I haven't missed one since 98' and don't plan on missing any more.

I usually wait a couple of

I usually wait a couple of days and let the crowd thin out some.  I usually do not get too serrious until the middle part of September where I hunt.  Then there are a few out with the muzzle loaders but not enough to push the deer and elk out of where I always find them

Opening Day Of Deer Season

I wouldn't mind, but to be honest I haven't given it a lot of thought. I was lucky this year with draws for other species including deer, and will be pretty busy as it is. Another issue I have with this years first archery season, is that if I get one, I'm done for the year and can't use the rifle tag I drew... and paid for already. I actually prefer the later second season here, it's much cooler, the rut, etc. So we'll see...

You know I have never figured

You know I have never figured out Arizona's one deer a year rule even if you have multipul tags in hand.  I guess that you can put it up there with some of the other states strange rules to hunt by.

You know I have never figured

Well, we don't have the deer populations here that many states have, and I guess it also leaves more out there for others to have a better chance. You can get caught not being able to use a type of tag though as noted. In years past, it was more of an honor system thing, as they didn't really stay on top of it much with the reporting etc. I think, if you know what I mean...

It also used to be pretty automatic you would get drawn for a rifle hunt too, but those days are gone as well depending. You can still pretty much count on a Coues Deer tag for rifle down south in the state every year though if applying there. Some primo/trophy hunts up north in the Kaibab are now draw for even archery I believe... the more people around, the tougher it gets I guess.

So far at least the majority of archery deer and turkey are still over the counter, pretty long seasons, go anywhere almost with lots of public land, etc. I guess it could be worse? I know I get jealous at times reading about multiple deer and all in other states, LOL.

I plan on being out there

I plan on being out there opening weekend, then again in late sept when the elk rut picks up.

I'll be out opening day.  I

I'll be out opening day.  I hunt on my neighbors land and he only lets a couple hunt on it a year so the deer aren't spooked.
