Is their any elk hunting in the northwest part of Ontario, I have heard both yes and no, if their is is their enough elk for someone to hunt, would anyone know where I can find out when the seasons for big game are. Ive tried a couple of web pages but they are all in pdf format which I cant open the files, not quite sure how to convert to pdf files, but i have a few guys interested in hunting Ontario as soon as we can get some questioned answered Thank You

Ontario Elk hunting
There is no open season for elk in Ontario, and there are no immediate plans to institute an elk hunt. MNR is having a serious problem with poaching, to the point that one of the three herds (Lake of the Woods) is already nearing extinction.
It is hoped that eventually the herds will grow and an elk hunt will be feasible, but there's no official estimate as to when they may implement a hunt. The situation is improving - the herds are reproducing, and wolf predation appears to have stabilized into something resembling natural stasis. Now if only the 2-legged predators would leave them alone....

The Black Bear and I now live in Peace but it wasn't always that way 
There is NO Spring bear hunting in NS
Fall season for Rifle & Bow over approved bail sites
General open bear hunting same as General Deer hunting I believe (last Friday in October to 1st Saturday in December.)
I don't believe Bear trapping is open to non residents, but I'm not sure.

Ontario Elk hunting
A few years back the record doe was dressed at 156.5lbs. I remember that because I had one at 155.0 lbs. Those weights are the exception, not the rule.
A buck over 225 are not uncommon, I seen one being weighed in at 261 lbs, early in the season one year.
