Only One

There really is only one choice for me. It is the 375 H&H chambered Win M70. Of course if I could get a double flanged 375 H&H I might go with that too, especially if I could make it a drilling with say a 10 gauge barrel too. THAT would be awesome!

Don't think it would be

Don't think it would be reasonable to limit yourself to one rifle for the whole world. If I had to, it would be one of three: a 6.5x55, 7x57 or 308win. Then I would exclude most of the dangerious game of the world and satisfy myself with shooting the 95% of the rest of the game in the world. My freezer isn't big enough to hold an elephant anyway; even if it was boned out!

Question, If you shoot a Dik-Dik with a 375 H&H will there be enough left to make a sandwitch with?

On my last trip to South Africa, I only took one rifle, my .375 Rum,  shooting handloaded 270 gr Barnes TSX bullets at 3043 fps.  Although they were not Dik Diks, I shot two Steenbok rams and a Jackal with one shot each at ranges of 50 to 90 yds.  Each of these guys are between 20 to 30 lbs, and luckily I only wanted a shoulder mount of one of the Steenbok, and my Taxidermist will have a lot of sewing to do on the Jackal.

A solid bullet would do as much damage to small animals, but the point of impact would differ with each bullet, and since many animals are targets of opportunity, I prefer to hunt with only one bullet.

Never shot dik dik, but a 375 Holland & Holland cartridge works well on ten pound bush cat.  The entry wound was the size of a dime and exit like a fist through the cats ribs.  Very little useable meat lost and my Okavango tracker took him home for family dinner.

i have seen this on a video.

i have seen this on a video. the guy actually didn't do hardly any damage to the thing. he was able to even have it mounted. there was a considerable amount of blood around the hole, but i think he used a solid bullet!

wouldn't have believed it had i not seen it happen!

i shot a cotton tail rabbit

i shot a cotton tail rabbit with a 30-06 from about 7 feet once. the tail half of the bunny landed on the roof of the barn, the front half of the bunny sprayed accross the side of the barn... and you can't scrub guts off of wood.

Duh

Wow so many choose from.  I

Wow so many choose from.  I would have to say my 375 H&H.  Its has done me well over the last 12 years and my dad for 5 years before that.
