one depressing week

well went out deer huntin last saterday it rained 3 days strait, ended up in a ditch after avoiding a cow that ran into the road, the tent frame took a sh#@ and ripped the tent and flood it with water. 17 to 28 other hunters a day driving there quads all over the canyon's we where in. we ended up tryin 4 diffrent canyons in the area and hiked for miles and saw nothin but doe's and 1 spike, what a cruddy week of huntin, but its still good to get out there and its still better than a good week at work. but the season dosent end untill the 20th so maby another trip might be taken. it was a total change from last year "like {night and day}". last year bucks where everywhere and there where no other hunters driveing there quads over you. "we did get some sage hen though" maby some weekend trips will get it done.

That does sound like a crappy

That does sound like a crappy week. But like you said it isnt over yet. hopefully you can get out there again and drop a monster. its funny how one year you have bucks all over the place and can pick and choose, and the next year only see spikes, that has happened to me a few times. the area i hunt seems to be on a 4 year cycle, where you have bucks around every corner and see 10+ shooters a day and then the next 3 years all you see are small 3x3's and smaller. this next year if the cycle stays true should be a great year for me. good luck the rest of your season.

Does sound like a bad week,

Does sound like a bad week, but like you said it's alot better than being at work.  I wonder if the word got oput somehow about the buck that you saw last year and that made more people flood to the area, alot of quads driving around is definetly not gaonna help you locate any bucks.  Good luck with the rest of the season!

I am sorry to hear that but

I am sorry to hear that but like others have said... you have still got some time to get out there and put a good buck on the ground. It is stange how areas can go through cycles like that. And not just for game populations numbers or densities. I notice a difference in numbers of hunters as well. There will be a big build up of hunter numbers in one of my areas and then it is like everyone sees how rediculous it is getting and then the next year they are all gone. Those years are great because it seems like you have the woods to yourself. It changes the way you have to go about getting an animal though because you do not have tons of people pushing the game around. It has been getting crazier and crazier for a couple years so maybe we will get a break soon. Good luck if you can get back out there.

The last five days of the 1st

The last five days of the 1st season was always best for me over there in NV.  Dont sweat it,  you have plenty of time.

 Good luck!

Stay at it!

Just think, you'll be able to add all of those events and details to your story after you connect on that big trophy you're after!  It will only make the experience that much better.  I can sympathize with you in regards to the increased amount of hunters in "your" area.  After the fires in Los Angeles (Angeles Nation Forest) ten or so years ago, we started getting pretty crowded down in San Diego!  Stay at it!

Did you ever end up taking a buck? I like Gatorfans idea and how optimistic he is. All those details will make for a much better story once you connect on a big buck! I hope things are going well for you. Good luck and keep us posted.

I have mixed feelings on the

I have mixed feelings on the use of ATVs for hunting.  I can see their value and purpose but they can be abused and interfere with other's hunts.  Like Hawkeye I'd like to know if you went back out and if you got your buck.
