Omnibus bill - is it a go?

Anyone want to place bets on whether the bloated Omnibus bill passes?

I see a couple senate dems have come forward and openly opposed and stated they will vote against it.

If Obama had any balls he'd veto the bill, like he should. Looks like he's content to allow the spendthrift Congress call all the shots. I keep wondering why he's allowing Pelosi and Reid to run this country? This is not what Obama promised when he was campaigning.

I don't know -- but I sure enjoyed this article about the Manchurian Candidate's war on business:

Good Grief Expatriate, you are responsible for the coffee all over my screen. That was hillarious. Quoting Kevin Hassett.

For those of you unfamiliar he's the running joke of stock market prediction, wrote a famous book predicting the DJIA would soon reach 36,000.

You were joking weren't you Expatriate? Sometimes it's hard to tell with you folks, like the other day when someone thought the pollsters were clairvoyant and could read Obama's mind.

But back on topic

I can't predict Cowgal, I don't think there will be a vote again until the votes are there. Then again it is a distraction with all that's going on. I know there's been a lot of talk about who has 40% of the pork, or who are 6 of the top ten porkers, but I don't know what percent of the bill is pork. Whatever it is we're probably spending more than that in one day on the banks. Just one more instance of obstructionism.

Here's some off topic humor, sorry cowgal, it's about predicting markets and company failures, pretty funny.

Duh, everyone knows that pollsters are not clairvoyant, however, according to one astute poster, whatever they publish is fact.

Looks like we're still reaching for understanding are we?

The data is factual, in that it reports the answers people give to the questions. Whatever analysis is printed is of course an opinion, and should be stated as such. When Fox says it knows the inside of Obama's mind, I 'm frankly skeptical, when people can't discern fact from opinion I just call them wingers

Go ahead and spin it, but data was never mentioned - the post said "polls are facts."

All I said was that I enjoyed the article. I do agree with him, though, that Obama's policies are anti-business and not that constructive.

As far as reading Obama's mind goes, I don't think that's possible. Even he can't seem to read it, as evidenced by his inability to say anything without it being written out for him on a teleprompter.

And BTW, Civet -- before you start ranting about Politico, Huffington Post ran it, too.

I saw it elsewhere a couple days ago. Sounds as if he's been reading since New Hamshire, does pretty well at it too. They go over every word before hand to try to stay on message. No drama... Obama.

I don't know about the budget bill but the Employee Free Choice one is short a couple votes. I heard Specter got a promise from Labor to support him in Pennsylvania if he votes yes. Lots of union in PA. Hard to see how Specter can vote for labor and remain in the party. If he stays he loses in the primary, and he doesn't want to retire. Might be time for 59 before Franken, sure would change things.

The "Employee Free Choice" act is an abomination to anyone who values democracy. "Free choice" to me would include things like the right for workers to decide unionization via private ballot without fear of being bullied in the workplace.

The FCA does away with that, and insures that people's votes be out in public. Unions love the idea for obvious reasons, because it's a return to the old days of unionization through intimidation. If unions offer a better deal, then why should they be afraid to let workers vote in private? Why do they need their votes made public?

For goodness sake, prom kings and queens are decided by private ballot -- but we can't allow workers the same privilege when deciding something that affects their livelihoods?

Lately it seems like whenever the left puts the words "free choice" in the title of a proposal, what they're actually doing is taking choices away.

The bloated Omnibus bill was signed today.

Obama quote:
"I am signing an imperfect omnibus bill because it's necessary for the ongoing functions of government," Obama said, adding that he would use it as a "departure point" for enacting new reforms. "

What a bunch of baloney. So much for his campaign promises of reigning in spending and EARMARKS!! Oink, oink...
