Okies or Yankees? Read at your own risk!

No Expatriate you see some people don't like the idea that a four pound bird has more courage than a two hundred pound man when it comes to defending his possessions and will literally give it his all. That is why Alexander the Great let all of his armies watch a cockfight before they went into battle so they would show the same courage and determination that the bird did. I would have thought that you would have known that with all of your scholarly attributes. Why did we spend billions of dollars in Afghanastan to liberate cock fighters from the Taliban. Was it because they were a better class of people? Because you see that is also one of the first things that the Taliban did, was to ban cock fighting. I know some cock fighting families that have sons in Afghanastan now. Do you think it would be right for those soldiers to return to the USA and be a felon in the state of Oklahoma just for owning a game rooster? If this is venom then so be it, but that is who I am, and I'm sorry if some one doesn't like me for admiring a true warrior. Some day it will come to pass when the USA will need some of these kind of warriors for soldiers. I liken Audy Murphy to a Game cock.

So if you support a ban on cockfighting you are a coward, a facist, a liberal, a taliban, and most importantly un-american.

Am I reading this correctly?

Oh and by the way some of my other heros are Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and William Travis along with Audy Murphy. Do you see any difference in these men and the ones we call heros today. These men were never captured and branded heros. They were more like the fighting cock either win or die trying. I hope that some of you realize what I'm talking about, because being what I am a mortal man and do not have the gift of gab like some people. If I talk one of you out of persecuting your fellow man for something he believes is his personal business and freedom, then I have done my good deed for today. Thanks Buck

Hey Mr Moderator you can interpit it any way you want, because there is nothing I can say that will ever change your mind. You have been confronting me every since I first posted on here. Go to the other thread about is hunting really threatened by animal rights. You see who caught all the flack. Whats your problem you don't like the messenger so you want to kill it? Or do you feel threatened at your exaulted high authority?

How would you like me to interpret your statements about cockfighting? Please be more explict.

Earlier you accused me of silencing the minority, so please go ahead.

What do you think of a hunter that supports a ban on cockfighting? Are they a communist? A nazi perhaps?

Well, Buck, I've studied a fair amount of military history and every account I've read attributes Alexander's success to masterful use of tactics, terrain, and combined arms warfare. Apparently everybody missed the part about cockfighting being the real key to his victories.

But it is interesting to note that when Alexander's Macedonians defeated Thebes, they went into the city and killed just about everyone -- women and children included. They burned the city as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the Romans also were strong cockfighters. When they defeated Carthage at the end of the Third Punic War, they killed all the men, enslaved all the women and children, burned the city to the ground, and salted the earth to prevent Carthage from ever rising again.

If you believe the Macedonians and Romans are the kinds of soldiers we need in the future, I'll have to disagree with you on that one. Didn't fly at My Lai and won't fly in the future, either.

As far as Hitler goes, I'm having a hard time seeing how banning cockfighting was a prelude to genocide. Disarmament, yes, but not cockfighting. Once again, I've never read a historical account that said Jewish lives could've been saved if Hitler had let them keep their chickens.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, we fought the Taliban because they supported the world's largest terrorist organization and helped kill 3,000 innocent people on 9/11. I'm dumbfounded to see someone assert we did it to restore cockfighting. Your argument is akin to saying that our Afghan campaign made it possible for poppy growers to produce opium again, so we should legalize heroin.

I'm trying to understand where you're coming from here, but I'm having a hard time.

I would rather for you to give me your interpation of a cock fighter or some one that supports cock fighting that is not a cock fighter but is just interested in stopping all the supressing of personal freedoms in this country. Its so much like the bait and chase thread, it depends on what part of the country you are in and wheather you are from the rural areas or the surburban areas, as to how you think. It also depends on all the propaganda you are fed and who you choose to believe. You ever raised a game cock? Did you grow up around game fowl? Have you ever been associated with any one connected with game fowl? If your answer is no to these questions then who are you to judge your fellow man. The same questions apply to hunting and you are welcome to use my comments to defend your cause, if you so choose, to defend the sport that you supposedly support so much, because the AR'S are coming after you. You can choose to take the ostrich approach and stick your head in the sand, which will get your behind shot off, or you can stand and be counted. The choices are all yours!

By the way, Buck, you might add Brigadier General Robinson Risner to your list of heroes. During Vietnam he flew F-105s and was commander of the the 67th Fighter Squadron "Gamecocks" at Kadena AB, Japan. While deployed to Korat Royal Thai AB in 1965, he was shot down twice over North Vietnam. He got back the first time, but the second time he was held prisoner in the Hanoi Hilton until 1973, where he was Vice Commander of the 4th Allied Prisoner-of-War Wing. If you want some good reading, check out his book, "The Passing of the Night."

Here's his bio:

Of course, he might not fit your definition of a hero because he was captured by the enemy and endured 8 years of torture while inspiring fellow prisoners.

You might also be surprised to learn that although the 67th flies F-15s now, they're still the "Gamecocks," and the patch they still wear dates back to WWII and was designed by Walt Disney. Here's a link to some of the patches:

Well I'll be danged my bad again? I thought he had a Army of flesh and blood men. You talk about tactics I guess that doesn't include getting your men in the right frame of mind to attack? Kinda like the ole half- time pep rally to the football team that is losing. Told you I couldn't express myself with all them five dollar words that you seem to have command of. Told you I was a ignorant hill billy. I thought part of the pep rally that the president gave was that we were going over there to liberate a oppressed people. Remember the women? Well too bad he didn't mention the cock fighters as well. Would the Taliban still be in charge? huh

I really appreciate the heads up on the book I will be reading it. Thanks it sounds like he might fit into my description of a hero. I know in my mind that if he got away once and went back and got captured then I have no doubt that he was trying to get away the second time. thanks again
