How many of us gun hunters believe that the statewide youth gun hunt effected the statewide gun season? Did the state schedule the youth too close to opening day? I like what ODOW did, but I think it could of been scheduled a bit different
to continue, I heard some complaints that the deer just were not there, but you have to factor in opening day, there was a pretty stiff wind all day, I hunted Ohio Power lands SW of Cambridge, and the deer just wernt there, like it was 2 weekends earlier when we scouted, and saw over 150 deer in about 6 hours, with over 3/4 of them in gun range, the quality of deer we saw was exceptional, actually more bucks than does,
If you're lucky enough to be on private land and can leave your stand up during the off season you can tie an old piece of cloth or something of the sort to your stand. I like to use an old camo bandana that I have. That way the deer get used to the movement and eventually don't bother even looking up when there is slight movement. This may just give you the time to draw your bow or raise your gun without being detected.
