what is your best october tactic? there isnt alot of acorns here so thats just about out we had a dry summer and i havent seen two acorns from the same tree. Im not lookin for a traophy deer a doe or a small buck will make me happy.

I 've seen one bigger buck which i shot at 30 steps and missed the i have seen does and fawns in thick cover and shot a pine tree so see a lot of deer and i hunt in northern alberta where's there alot of pressure
The best thing you can do in October is find a trail and sit tight. All I do in September and October is sit in a tree stand near an area I expect the deer to visit or walk by and wait. When November comes then I use estrous scents to try and attract the bucks. If a buck walks down wind of an estrous scent at this time of the year he will most likely come in to check it out.
There is one tip I have learned over the years in hunting whitetails in late season snow. Do not overlook soybeans left standing on the edges of fence rows, woods, creeks, buildings wherever it might be, this is where the deer will be while the food lasts during late season. December/January will pull deer in from some distance away to feed on the easy to get to food.
