You're right about what it takes to win. It is actually hard work, but I am motivated. I don't know how Jim does it with just the blackberry. My wife wishes my motivation extended to other things in my life....she is probably right, but hey this is fun. Where else can you work to win a rifle and hang out with hunting buddies and swap stories all day. And the truth is, on this site I do think of you guys as hunting buddies.

Your bride is likely not a socialist but she could possibly be a Democrat!!
I fell in love with and married a great lady recently (married seven years now) and it was not until the honeymoon phase had worn off that I realized I had wed the most liberal, bleeding heart Bill Clinton lover out there!
Not to delve into politics but my point is that they are our better halves and we love them in spite of some of the "sacrifices" we have to make to keep the peace...
Now if I can just get her to understand that not sitting at the pc for hours on end really is a sacrifice!
Nope don't think that one will sell well at home!!!
As for the rifle...I just want to see how Hawkeye is going to pull out all the stops trying to catch CVC!!!!
He is clearly the underdog right now....

Ha ha, it seems like my wife
Ha ha, it seems like my wife and yours might be related. As for Hawkeye, I've noticed some similarities between his posts lately and my high school papers where I had a minimum word limit to meet. Now don't get me wrong, his posts are very very interesting and usually right on subject, but I noticed a few extra words, maybe just one or two here and there to get the count of for more points. Not that I would ever do something like that or even know how to do it. Know what I mean? LOL

Writers adding extra words???
Why I never.....even heard of or considered that anyone would stoop that low!!!!
I mean, I phrase things in a manner that ALLOWS me to use the most words possible!!!
Yeah - that's the ticket!!
I have long been accused at work of being too long winded when I write documents...finally, I have found an outlet where bring long winded is a virtue!
Hawkeye is a great writer (as are you CVC) and I read posts, stories and tips from each of you with equal relish!
Does he want to catch you??
Sure he does...and we are all enjoying watching the race unfold!
To the victor go the spoils!!!

HA HA, you guys are funny! This thread reminds me of a conversation with my thirteen year old. Who is going to get the last word (or words for points ).

Un huh, not true
Un huh, not true gator...you're just so mean....why do you have to always pick on me....my friends all get to post that way....why can't I???
Oh yeah, it is a good competition. Hawkeye is prolific and good writer and doesn't give a moments rest. I have to type non-stop to just keep up with him.

Ok folks - here is the way I
Ok folks - here is the way I see and I am a cut to the chase kind of guy.
This is really two races...
The first race is the one for first and second place between two writers who both want to win.
The die is cast for the kimber and the laser scope as it relates to who will take these prizes unless someone else comes hard charging from the shadows to become the third contender.
The "other" race is between a fairly close group of competitors for the remaining five prizes.
It would seem as though most of the folks in this second race have been in the contest before and know how the deal works.
We are all struggling to gain ethical and well earned points.
My hat is off to all of you and may the best (men) win - whether it is the first or second contest!

I will tell you one plus of
I will tell you one plus of the contest. I have gotten to know some of you a lot better and that is a "winner" in my books. You all have shared some great posts and stories and besides being good hunters, you're just good people.
This would be an interesting case study for a psychologist, at least if I was the one they studied. It takes a lot of time to remain in the race, more than I thought it would but my mind says I've come too far to stop now. So, I spend hours posting and trying to post quality meaningful posts and interesting stories.

CVC Right you are - it is
Right you are - it is very interesting and although I have never met a soul from this forum - I do feel like I sort of "know" several people on here!
I have been hampered by the fact that I have been on a hunt for a week now (I know....poor me!!) with no pc access and while I have been able to make a few posts, I have not been able to post stories and hunting tips - which is the primary thing that pleases me the most on this forum...
I am heading home in the morning (11 hour drive) and will spend the weekend with my wife, work three days and then turn around and come right back up here for four more days...so November for me is gonna be hard as it relates to getting some stories and tips in...
At any rate, we all know it takes a lot of work and we look forward to watching the month (and thus the races) unfold!!

You're doing remarkably well
You're doing remarkably well considering the disadvantage you're at. Of course, and I really mean this in a good way, you've won a first prize so the pressure is off you. Anything you win now is just gravy.
