Obama's Gun Ban List Is Out

Here it is, folks, and it is bad news. The framework for legislation is always laid, and the Democrats have the votes to pass anything they want to impose upon us. They really do not believe you need anything more than a brick to defend your home and family.

Look at the list and see how many you own. Remember, it is registration, then confiscation. It has happened in the UK, in Australia, in Europe, in China, and what they have found is that for some reason the criminals do not turn in their weapons, but will know that you did.

Remember, the first step in establishing a dictatorship is to disarm the citizens.

Gun-ban list proposed. Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady's plan to introduce shortly. I have an outline of the Brady's current plans and targets of opportunity. It's horrific. They're going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people.

They've made little mention of criminals. Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states' rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment. The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse):

Frames or receivers for the above are included, along with conversion kits.

Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any "semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General."

Note that Obama's pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, "there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event." In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn't have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose -- is that devious or what? And of course, "sporting purpose" is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

Yeah just saw that this weekend. This should be a wake-up call to all the compromising hunting gun-owners out there. We just can't afford to risk letting the anti-gunners have any victory at all. We give em an inch and they will take it all away. A lot of hunter fail to see it, but here it is.

As I said on another thread, we can't afford to let the gun banners split the gun community along hunting lines. The argument that "you don't need an AR-15 to hunt" is a clever dodge to put hunters at ease. But that argument is a slippery slope with no end. Follow-on arguments could include:

- Why do you need 10 round magazines to hunt? Why not five?

- Wait a minute...waterfowlers already are limited to three rounds, so we have precedent -- you don't need more than three rounds to hunt.

- Magnum rounds have far more energy than what's needed to kill a deer -- better limit cartridges to 2,000 ft-lbs or less.

- Bullets commonly available on the market are capable of piercing body armor, and you don't need a bonded/partition bullet to kill deer -- why not ban them?

- Why do you need scopes to kill deer? It's not fair chase, and it's not safe to engage targets outside your ability to see unaided.

- Why do you need rifles to kill deer? People did it with smoothbores for centuries, and rifles pose a danger to people downrange.

- Not hunting? Then there's no valid reason to transport a firearm, unless you're going to an approved range with verifiable club membership.

- Not a hunter? Then there's no reason for you to own a gun, is there?

It's suicide to allow people who don't see a "need" to hunt to dictate to us what we "need" to enjoy our sport.

Is anybody suprized by this? And while your busy blaming Democrats, tell me what the Republicans did when they held both houses and the presidency's to side rail stuff like this? Nothing!

For some reason I don't understand why people keep voting for people that have done nothing to help this country. I voted for anybody not an incumbant last election. What do you think the message would be if two elections in a row, every incumbant was removed from office? I think a prudent polotican would start listening to his/her people. Not to worry, only four more years!

I agree that the blame does not rest solely with the Democrats, but I will point out that the SCOTUS ruled against DC in Heller v DC because of Republican appointees to the SCOTUS.

So, yes, the Republican party has done some good, not enough, but some.

We didn't lose any of our second amendment rights under Republicans. I think that counts for something. As CVC stated, in some areas it was strengthened.

I'll admit that I wasn't the biggest fan of Bush (the former president that is lol ) even though I voted for him twice. I will however say though that him letting the Brady Bill sunset as well as signing into law the Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act really really hit a home run for gun owners in this country. At least Bush understands the right to protection.

The Second Amendment is NOT about hunting. It's the right to keep and bear arms......this right shall not be infringed.

The assult type guns are first then what? bolt action, pump and semis. Next thing ya know we'll be back to patch/balland flintlock.

Why do we NEED a car that goes faster than 70 MPH? Because we WANT one.

Why do we NEED a 3 bedroom home with 2 baths? Because we WANT one.

Why do we NEED assault type rifles? Because the Second Ammendmet say we CAN have it and I WANT one.

Know your rights, defend your rights.

The truism that assault is a behavior, not a device really holds true. Would I feel better if the person shooting at me had a bolt action deer rifle? Nope. He'd probably be more likely to hit me.

This notion that you can ban certain guns is akin to saying that despite the first amendment, you can speak, but only certain words. Others deemed too dangerous are banned.
