President Elect-Obama Announces Anti-Gun Agenda
One of many proposal found on transition web-site

Orange, VA - The following is a statement released by the Virginia Shooting Sports Association President David Adams, in reaction to President Elect Obama's anti-gun proposal posted on the official Transition web site.

"It did not take long for Barack Obama to show his hand as it relates to the threat that America's gun owners now face under an Obama Administration. Only three days after winning the presidency, he has declared war on honest law abiding gun owners by laying out an agenda that seeks to violate the privacy of gun owners and outlaw an entire class of firearms."

The transition web site, http://www.change.gov lists the following proposals that target gun owners in America.

"Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets."

VSSA will continue to protect the right of law abiding gun owners as we have for the last 70 years. Gun owners are urged to make their views known to President Elect that lawful gun owners are not to blame for crime and we will let our representatives know in Congress that we oppose these proposals.

VSSA, founded in 1938 is the state affiliate association of the NRA, and works to protect the rights of law abiding gun owners and sportsmen.

What? What? But SoCo guaranteed Obama wasn't anti-gun! What do you say to this, SoCo? It's not even a week after the election and your Messiah is already laying out his intention to give government more access to trace your purchases, make guns "childproof", and ban assault weapons.

Here's the link to the actual page on the change.gov website:
http://change.gov/agenda/urbanpolicy/

Is the Dear Leader's website another right-wing smear campaign? Gee -- that paragraph lines up perfectly with all the other evidence we've been talking about. Let's see you spin this one.

He's going for it, SoCo. So pull your head out of your...sand and pay attention.

The "rights" he's protecting are the "rights" he thinks you should have. Maybe you're comfortable with whatever scraps the king decides to grant you. But the rest of us treasure what the founding fathers gave us.

Shame on You! Yes, but SoCo will still have the same number of guns in his gun cabinet so he doesn't care.

It appears they have removed that page. I didn't get a chance to read, so I'll see if they just moved it elsewhere.

They removed the entire agenda page, and replaced it with a short paragraph. I'm sorry I didn't get to read the urban policy, but I'm glad I was able to read some of the other plans before they removed it. Interesting.

That's very odd. Not only was that one page removed, but ALL agenda pages are gone.

You can find cached pages through google. Here is the urban policy one:

Might want to print out, it won't be in the google cache for very long.

SoCo must've called the Kommisar hotline to let them know people had spotted it, and the Ministry of Truth tossed it down the memory hole.

I'm telling you, it's downright Orwellian. If you haven't read 1984, the protagonist's job is working in the Ministry of Truth "correcting" records. Say for example Big Brother predicted they would make 75,000 pairs of shoes next quarter. At the end of the quarter, they'd only made 50,000. So our guy's job was to go through every record and news report and change all the references from "75,000" to "50,000." All the references to 75,000 would go down the "memory hole" to be destroyed. Then they'd crow about Big Brother's wisdom. If someone had the nerve to recall that BB predicted 75,000 they'd say he was crazy because the media had clearly reported that Big Brother had predicted 50,000.

I'll wager it looks much different when it comes back up, and in fine Orwellian form SoCo will say we're all nuts.

I sent a contact form to them asking where the Agenda pages were and why they were removed.
We'll see what they say.
I'll let you know.

Wow, good find cowgal. Nice to see the google cache still has the page here is the exact quote:

I can't believe they are going after Tiahrt under the pretense of helping law enforcement. The amendment does not forbid law enforcement from obtaining information on guns that they need to trace, this is a flat out lie. What Tiahrt prevents is the public release of all atf trace data. Not all traces are related to a crime even the atf says a significant portion of traces have nothing to do with a crime. Yet removing Tiahrt would allow any body to find out who purchased a weapon that had been traced even if the gun was not involved in a crime.

Deleting the agenda from the change.gov site is finally getting some attention today. Seems like no one really noticed immediately.

http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/nov/11/exclusive-obama-deletes-agen...

Found a link where someone copied the entire agenda:
http://www.kvinet.com/~mack/
Might want to download the PDF version for future reference. It amazes me that the agenda has been reduced from 77 pages to 2 brief paragraphs.

Found another link where it was preserved in its entirety exactly how it appeared on change.gov:
http://www.mega.nu/ampp/obama_agenda/agenda.html

It does make one pause and wonder what's going on. When Dan Pfeiffer, Obama's transition communications director was asked about the site, he simply responded by saying, "That section of the Web site is being retooled." So I'm going to guess its not the "look" that's being retooled (the site was only a few days old!) .
