NY turkeys so far?

Anyone having luck with the spring turkeys yet?

We saw a few but never got a shot opening morning.  Gotta wait until the weekend to try again.

Turkey Season 2011

Went out on Sunday, in the woods from 5:15 AM untim 11:30 and didn't hear a thing. Two fellow hunters were in the woods and heard nothing.

Monday, I walked and called and still hunted covering about 3 miles, nothing

Tuesday morning headr a turkey at about 8:30 and by 9:30 got a 18 pound bird. My son and I hunted and called together. My first bird in many years.

Yep!

I hear you.  I'm hunting turkeys in Whitehall and the bridge over south bay is now closed.  The road to the farm where I hunt has water actually on teh pavement on the left and the right at one point.....but the center was still dry!  Probably will not be able to hunt this weekend....so the birds get a week off!

Hey guys i got this beauty on

Hey guys i got this beauty on thursday.

Was in woods at 4am sat at the base of a tree on top of a ridge. As soon as the lights started to turn on I heard a Bird Flapping its wings 30 yards away at the bottom of ridge. i sat there and started to hear the gobble. it was the easiest hunt i ever expierenced, i didnt even have to call! about 20 minutes of gobbling i still could not see the bird. he went silent for the remainder. i saw a hen approaching from the back left side of me about 100 yards out. i watched the hen for two minutes and all of a sudden i see this tom running like a bat out of hell towards hen puffed up. he would sprint ten yards puff up then sprint another and puff up. finally i was able to get a clear shot when he exposed him self completely. His beard measured 9 3/4 inches. HEwas a nice two year old bird. He was shot at 5:50am and was back at the lode having a cup of coffee at 6:15! Thumbs up
