Although the article give the whole purpose of the plan I didn't catch if they were planning to stop it or not. It does show that quite a few slightly older bucks were taken overall but not much more information than that.

Recent threads here like the one I started pretty clearly indicate that most of us don't feel that these restrictions accomplish much of anything in the long term. It seems that more eastern states are trying it now that most of the western states have given up on it and moved on.

Upon reading the link I seen where the state propsed more areas in the southeastern part of NY to have antler restrictions but then dropped it mainly because of hunter response. I didnt see where it said they were going to stop it in the already existing areas.

I do agree with them that the change though basicly new would take more time to make any significant difference so in my opinion, leave it as it stands for now and give it a couple more years. They did take a few more of the 2.5 year olds and drastically reduced the yearling buck take. let's see more of how it goes.

That’s pretty much what I got out of it too. They are just going to keep it going where it is being tested and see what happens. You could be right Hunter25 – it is a new idea here in the eat. Pennsylvania has had it in place for a few years, but it is new in New York.
