November Round of the Grand Slam Challenge has now ended

Round Five of the BigGameHunt Grand Slam Challenge starts November 1st!

NOTE: No dramatic changes in the points system, but there are a few minor changes. We've increased the upper limit for all comments posted to the forums, news, articles, stories, tips, and we are giving a premium for commenting on the new blog posts. We've increased the points for starting new forum topics as well. All submissions are still subject to a sliding scale.  The points awarded for your submission will be based on the criteria discussed in the Official Rules.  As a rule of thumb, original detailed stories/tips with quality photo submissions will be awarded more points. Please remember that all posts must be written by you, they cannot be "cut & paste" from another site, that includes the joke section of the forum.

For photos to retain the points they've received, they must be hunting and/or outdoor related. You are welcome to upload whatever photos you'd like, but only hunting/outdoor photos will qualify for points.

Visit the Official Contest Rules page at http://www.biggamehunt.net/grand_slam_rules.html for detailed information.

Round Five includes the following prizes:
- 1st Place : Kimber Montana 270 WSM 8400 Rifle - $1,312.00
- 2nd Place : Nikon Laser IRT 4-12x42mm Rifle Scope - $1,299.99
- 3rd Place : Burris Fullfield II 3.5-10x50mm Ballistic Plex Rifle Scope with Burris 8x32mm Binoculars - $449.99
- 4th Place : Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40mm Rifle Scope - $109.99
- 5th Place : Badlands Reactor Pack - $79.99
- 6th & 7th Place : Leatherman Wave Multi-Tool - $79.99/each

Is it possible to receive feedback?

I was just wondering if it is at all possible to receive feedback from our stories/tips.  I was just curious as to why some of my stories received more/less points than others.  I assume that there is a point’s scale used and just wondering if it was possible for that information to be shared with the person that submits the story/tip.  Could be in a PM.

I am always looking for ways to improve on my writing skills and believe that the feedback would help.

feedback

Gatorfan, we use the guidelines outlined here:
http://www.biggamehunt.net/forum/tips-and-photo-story-submission-guidelines

We have a team of judges that read and score each submission. Due to the volume of stories and tips submitted, it really isn't possible for us to provide feedback on each submission. We already have a hard time keeping up! smile

As a general rule, creativity, originality, word count, photos, spelling and grammar all contribute to the final score.

I'd like to note that we do

I'd like to note that we do contact members if there is a problem with their submission or it is completely rejected. If a piece is rejected, we allow members to try and correct whatever problem there is, short on words, no photos, too general, etc. and they can resubmit.

Good luck to everybody. I

Good luck to everybody. I agree... there are some amazing prizes. This is defenitely the grand finale. There isn't going to really be any strategy on my part. I want that rifle and so I am going to be giving it all I've got. Atleast I'm a student and can devote a lot of time to it since I don't have to take care of a family haha. The .270 wsm is a captivating round and that rifle would make the perfect sheep rig. That is what I would turn it into if I can win it. Once again, good luck everyone and thank you to the Biggamehunt.net staff for giving us this opportunity.

Some great prizes this month,

Some great prizes this month, but as the same with October I will find myself in the field compared to sitting at home on the computer.  Our goose season opens here in CO on the 13th and I am gonna try and break my record of geese taken this year so i will be giving it my all.  Good luck to all and thanks again to tyhe BGH staff for the great giveaway!

Not much left here...

I don't have much left to submit!  Looks like some members have been holding out for that Kimber! lol

CVC aleady has 3/5 of my total points last month and this month's contest is only 3 days old!  Should be an entertaining month.

Good luck everyone!!!

Darn, you noticed.  I was

Darn, you noticed.  I was hoping to fly under the radar.  Please keep in mind I had to give up my moderator position to participate and that was quite the lucrative gig.  Look at the great prizes they have been giving away so you can only imagine all the perks that go along with being a moderator, but hey, I wanted to try and earn my keep for a change.

Good luck to all.

BTW

Sure the posting is high now, but it really isn't much compared to what it was like when we had a very liberal troll that only posted in the political section.  Some days the number of posts would melt the servers and raise member's temps too.  It was quite nasty at times....right around the time the 2008 elections were heating up and fear of Obama's agenda was high.

Seriously, the posts were high then, but the quaility of the posts are much better now and focused on hunting and not just politics.
