Not good news

I was talking to a local rancher while home this weekend. A group of Oregon Cattlemen are starting to band together to put all private ranches in Oregon closed to hunting. It's a protest because they won't be able to shoot wovles when they come to Oregon, even if their stock is being attacked. Several ranches in my area already shut down. One is 23,000 acres here and the owner shut down two more east of here.

From what I understand, one rancher did shoot one attacking a calf and he's in jail now, endangered species act!

Sounds like something needs to be done, maybe they'll get someone's attention. What are they suppose to do when one is attacking their livestock or even their kids?

The problem is that some of these guys shoot them whenever they see one, even if it is not threatening them or their livestock. Around here, the rednecks take potshots at anything that moves, one guy shot a turkey vulture with a scoped .300 Winchester Magnum, then tried to justify it by saying he thought it was a stump. I'm sorry, but if you can't tell the difference between a stump and a buzzard looking through a Leupold scope, then not only should you be put on a planet with no access to other people or any firearms, but you are also the dumbest excuse for a sack of diarrheal dog-poo in the universe!

OMGosh Cap.... LOL! There truly ARE too many ignorant trigger-happy, gun-toten Morons out there.

However, I DO NOT blame Ranchers for protecting their Stock. The re-introduction was a mistake, IMO. When the predator (Wolf) has no predation (human hunter) the wolf will THRIVE and overpopulate in rural America. All of this at the expense of slaughtered Pets and Livestock....not to mention the eradication of Deer and Elk populations.

I believe in SSS. There is ZERO reasoning with the pathetic Liberals who place animal welfare above those of their children. Hell, those same Liberals have never lived outside their own little suburban bubble.

I WELCOME them to live in Rattlesnake Country for a Month.
They'd pee themselves. Buncha KITTYS! LOL!

To those Oregon Ranchers: GOOD FOR YOU! Take your Fate and your circumstances and do what our Government has failed to do. Protect yourselves! You have my support and BLESSINGS!

Its a shame it had to come to this as its going to effect hunters more than anything as I see it. I can't see where this will put a lot of pressure on the state or feds to change anything this way.

The 3 S's is the best way as that is the way our state's ranchers are handling our cougar problem.

Shoot, shovel and shut-up. It's to bad but that's just what will happen. Imagine if lions packed up like wolves. But lions are solitary for the most poart. I read where each lion has a home range of about 5 mi.

Cattleman.......those guys will raise hell at any cost to protect their cash crop (or I guess you'd say cash cow Big smile ).

Cattlemans Associations are pretty well know for running one of the tightest ships in the industry. It's good to know they do too.

Just remember this: our U.S.A. raised beef is one of the very last extreamly hight quality product that we still have to offer to us as Americans and to the rest of the world.

The problem is libs that are all too happy to do things that affect other people while escaping any accountability themselves. They'll push wolf reintroduction programs that put dangerous predators in someone else's back yard, and yet set up neighborhood associations to protect themselves from the wrong colored Christmas lights.

While those pesky LIBERAL folks reintroduce animals that were once native to an area, the CONSERVATIVE folks would introduce land-clearing, strip-mining, and development at the drop of a hat.

Tell me something, hypothetically: If George W. Bush were to find there was a significant amount of oil underneath a piece of land that also happened to be a major breeding ground for elk, mule deer, and pronghorn, what do you suppose he would do?
