thanks for the advice, i've been looking around at books already to find some about processing and how to cut them up in the field to get them out. I do plan on doing the elk hunt next year so it is something i'll need to know. i'll look for the one you mentioned.

it would be a little lighter without the guts too... not sure how much though. good job with the buck! Thumbs up

Thanks! and it was gutted, my ed-ju-mi-cated guess would be that the guts may have weighed about... 20-30 LBS. any insight on how much it may weigh?

Congrats!!! What's funny is I recognized right where you were before I even read your post! I grew up hunting the Tuttle Loop which is an ATV trail right below where you are in the picture. Good to see there are still deer in there. It feels great to get that first one under you belt doesn't it? Congrats again!!

cool! well you would know how hard it was to get the deer out from the bottom of Tuttle, i'll never do that again

Definitely......steep and the thickest oak brush I've ever tried to walk through. That stuff is ridiculous!!
