Northern Deer

This will be my first time hunting in Utah, and due to my work/school schedual I will only be able to go out on the saturdays during the deer hunt. I was thinking about going up around the High Uinta's area and am wondering if thats a good place to start or if anybody has any other suggestions.

Thanks, Rob

I have no idea of the hunting conditions/terrain you will be hunting in but if you can only get out on Saturdays, I'd suggest this:
Speak to land owners/famers now and seek permission. Tell them it will be a Saturday only deal. A poor time to knock on the farmers door is opening day when it may sound like a war zone. Some land owners(not all by any means) will even have a change of heart after a chat and they beleive you to be a responsible hunter.
Do some scouting for deer sign well in advance of the season.

Sorry I can't help more than that

Good Luck Thumbs up

rm1812,

I have no idea where to hunt in Utah. Go to "Muleymadness". The moderator and many of the guys live in Utah. Great bunch of guys.

Don't forget to come back and let us know how you do.

The Uinta's aren't a bad place to go. But if you are doing a the late October rifle hunt you may not be able to hunt the high Uinta's due to weather conditions. Besides it seems like all the elk hunters scare all the deer into hiding anyway. A little lower elevation in the Uinta's would probably be better. Where will you be coming from? Maybe I can suggest some areas close to where you are.
