NORTH AMERICAN BIG GAME

I think the North American Grand Slam is between 28 and 29 animals right now.  Seems to be a debate on the exact count.  I would like to know how many of the 29 animals you have collected from this list?  Im not asking if they were B&C Qualifiers just legal game period.

Me:  1. White tail. Yeah, I know sad.  I have hunted in several states but all I can manage is the White tail.

Does it have to be a certain

Does it have to be a certain sex or certain size of the animal, or just that you have harvested one?

I have whitetail, and I shot an 80 lb mulie doe (Good for our area).

So does that make 2???/  Maybe I'll finish the grand slam in a year or 2..... lol

I only have the resourceful

I only have the resourceful Desert Bighorn and the White Bear of the far north to go. Now if only I could just draw the tags...

ha yeah right... in my dreams. I have gone through spurts of dreaming about actually acomplishing this one day. I have pretty much come to terms with the fact that I will never be wealthy enough to do it. If I was to decide to not get married and to not have kids, and to live my entire life on the budget that I am held to now as a college student... I could maybe make it happen. But that is just way to much "life" to give up. So I have decided to just live vicariously through others for most of the species on the list. I do still hope to complete the sheep slam because that is the guild of species that I am most passionate about. A great book for someone interested in the grand slam is by J.Y. Jones and is called, One Man, One Rifle, One Land: Hunting All Species of Big Game in North America. He hunts completes the slam with the same 30-06 for all animals. It is a little bit pricey though so I just got my library to take it out on loan. Check it out... its an awesome read.

Tndeerhunter, thanks for the

Tndeerhunter, thanks for the compliment.  I've been working on that list for about 45 years.

Only the Canadian critters (Dall sheep, Mountain caribou, CC Barren Ground caribou, and Musk ox) and the Bison were from guided hunts. All the other hunts were DIY and many of them including the Mtn goat, Bighorn sheep, Shiras moose, Black bear, and many of the Elk I shot on solo hunts.  At least I had my horses to pack my camps in and animals out, especially ones like one Moose, two Bighorn rams, and several Bull elk that were miles back into Wildernesses.
