Is this "non-typical"?

more from the backyard camera in suburban IL

one side is broken off....sadly....

the other looks like it has 2 main branches?

not sure what constitutes being "non-typical" but i figure this looks kind of goofy, so it might be.

I wish i had more time free to sit there and wait for it with my bow.....

Yea, pretty sure that's non-typical. Two main beams on one side. I think I'd wait 'til next year on him... sad

That would be a Non Typical Buck.
A Typical Buck will have a matched point on each antler. Any point on one beam that is not present on the other beam would be counted as "Abnormal" and would be deducted from the total score of the Buck if scored as Typical. The choice is yours on whether You score it Typical or Non Typical as you can still score it as a Typical but you will lose points (inches) from the score.

A Non Typical Buck will have abnormal points but they are ADDED to the total score for mass instead of subtracting from it. You would clearly benefit by scoring it Non Typical if the Abnormal points are large or numerous, however if you just have a small kicker on an otherwise perfect set of large antlers then I would score it as Typical and take the loss of the Abnormal point.

That is a very nice Buck though. I will have to agree with Illinois_Dave that you might want to wait till next year on him.

I would normally agree to wait for next year on him....

but i wont be here next year....as I'm planning to relocate in the spring to a different state.

I'm looking to get something for the freezer more than something for the wall......If something else comes along, I'll go for that instead........But i had a very empty freezer last year, so I'm thinking whatever crosses my path I will try for.

also caught a pic of the little fork-horn....I'll definitely pass on him. I'd much prefer a doe or a nice buck.......half of a nice buck would work too if all else fails though

Been there, done that too many times. Go ahead and poke a hole in him!
