No luck in NM

Just got back from the Gila Nat Forest yesterday after a full week of deer hunting.
No luck this year as all I saw was mule deer does. I also saw some coues deer bucks including a nice 8 pt that stood 30 yds from my ground blind.
I still had a great time and I'm already planning to return to that same unit with a whitetail tag.
Here are some pics of my camp, some deer and the New Mexico landscape.

Nice !!

prhunter,

Sounds like you still had an amazing hunt. It's always nice to fill a tag, but it looks like from your pics you still had a good time. Thanks for sharing !

I saw the coues at about

I saw the coues at about 2:45PM. I watched him for about 15 minutes until he decided to walk away. It was a great experience since that was the first coues I've ever seen. Now I'm hooked!!!! Next year I'll be putting in for a coues deer tag.

Welcome

Welcome to the obsession. I helped my buddy get a nice little 7 pointer, botched a 100" coues, and passed on a spike this year. The quest for a decent coues goes on for me.

I'll be hunting Javelina

I'll be hunting Javelina next. I picked up a NM Jav tag just in time before they sold out. I've been thinking about putting in for deer during the muzzleloader in southern Colorado. What can you tell me about that? Thanks!!!
