"no body"

whenever I post -OR ALMOST EVERY TIME - and hit preview I get a blank message with a title mesage saying that my post must include a body - then I RETYPE everything and hit preview again. Usually it takes then and I can hit submit after preview, but sometimes I need to do it again. Any idea what I am doing wrog or what setting I need to change? Thanks for any help!

comment field problem

We had one member write to us this week with the same problem.

What browser are you using?

BGH's backend and code has not changed, so we believe it's a problem with the IE 8 browser and how it handles javascript. Something changed in IE 8 in the last Windows update.

Some suggestions:

1) Try clearing your browser cache completely, restart, and see if it's still a problem.

2) Switch to Google Chrome for your browser.

For the member that wrote in, switching to Chrome solved their problem, which reaffirmed that it's an IE 8 issue.  If you're using a different browser, we sure would like to hear from you.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.

Not working

I'm running IE 9.0.2

I can not get anything stay in the comment box on preview.

I'd like to participate , but will not change to an entirely different browser in order to do so.

Doubt this is posted anyway, but thought I'd try.

We don't have any control

We don't have any control over browsers when they change code. Most folks run 2-3 browsers, simply because some sites do not work in all.  Microsoft/Internet Explorer is notorious for creating browsers with non-standard code. It does appear that the newest IE 9 allowed you to post.

We still recommend Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox- it's simply less frustrating across the board on all sites, not just here on BGH.

Fix?

Ok, my previous post was the last one I was able to post.

A Fix maybe?

on IE 9 or newer (maybe even 8?)  There is a control called "Compatability View", it's up to the right of where you type in a web address, looks like a sheet of paper torn in half.  click on it and see what happens.  I tried this as a suggestion from a computer wizard at work.

This will be my second post on Compatiblity View mode, if this goes through and you too are having problems, give it a shot.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the help.  I am using Internet Explorer 8 on my home computer.  When you recommend clearing my browser cache completely is that deleting my browsing history?  I’m not sure exactly what you mean.  Let me know and I’ll give it a try.
