NM Unit 31 Help

My friends and I drew out for unit 31 this year. This will be our first time hunting New Mexico and could use a little help. I have been told to hunt around the Brantley or Seven Rivers area. Is this a good place or should we try elsewhere? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: NM Unit 31 Help

The sand holds some big deer east of Carlsbad, but so dose the whole unit. the best thing I could tell you is to get out and do a lot of scouting. I live in the southeast part of the unit and I can say the years I scout I have great success but the years I dont I spend the whole hunt finding the deer.

Ive killed some nice deer in this unit my best being a 6x6 that got second in a big buck contest in Carlsbad. It was 28.75 wide and 28.25 tall. the bad thing about it, it got stolen.
Good luck!

Oh yeah the winner that year came from Colorado.

The brantley area is alright. I agree with the sand hills comment I'm also from this unit and there are some good deer in this unit but you have to put forth the effort. PM me I could point you in some pretty good areas I've seen some good deer in.

Did y'all find any deer in Unit 31. A friend and myself drew there and was wondering if you had any advice?
