NM GMU 15 (13 Oct)

Just returned from NM GMU 15, the weather was did not start off to good, stormed rolled in on Friday night and stayed most of the day Saturday a few breaks but nothing to speak of. Saturday night it started breaking up, the last of the winds came though, the wind meter said 55MPH on one of the gust. Sunday was a better day for the hunters, heard of 6 bulls being killed around the slaughter mesa area. I only say two of the bulls, 1st bull guy said he walked about 7 miles to get him and shot him at 100yds, funny thing he was able to have the whole bull in the back of his truck not quarters. Bull was a 3yr 5X4 thin on the points, he was very proud of the bull. 2nd bull was a very large 5X6 shoot at the east end of Sawmill Canyon, did not talk to the hunter much, he seamed a little pissed when we showed up, he had just finished packing out the animal when we arrived.
Out of the two groups I have been watching, one group is gone. I have no idea where they went to—left no forwarding address. 2nd group is still there they moved around the bend. Bulls are bulging every evening and night, the full moon is not a help, it’s big and bright. Coyotes must know what is going on, they did not want to come into the calls at all, they keep howling after dark.
Best of luck to all the hunters

Too bad you did not get one! My coworkers got 2-small bulls. That unit is good, but too hard to draw and I hate all the roads! Thumbs up
