NEWS FORUMS/COMMENT COLUMNS

Oh, goody, some dumb congress or senator guys just got exposed for the crooks they are. Of course, this makes headlines, and nowhere are there more articles dedicated to them than Google news. Unfortunately, these articles frequently have columns where readers may comment. Some of these folks are actually rational, intelligent people who are occasionally mildly insightful. The lion's share, however, are CHUDS that think their political views supercede the rest of the globe. Brick Wall,)

Every time anything political, or otherwise for that matter, crops up in the news, people just have to spit their rabies-infested slobbery opinions back and forth at each other like elephant seals locked in combat. Merely stating one's disagreement with another's deep-seated neurotic political beliefs is like poking a stick into a nest full of the dumbest hornets in the free universe. What the vast majority of these internet denizens lacking in any semblence to a real life don't realize is there is a world out there beyond the dense shrouds of their personal opinions.

Now I am not saying all people who visit news commenting columns have rabies, are CHUDS, dumb hornets, elephant seals, or neurotic, I am merely stating that there is a significant difference between merely stating one's opinon and having the objectivity to sit back and observe the sentiments and feelings of others, and spinning themselves up into a tornado of self-loving Satan-Clown death ready to topple governments with their scathing posts. After such a self-loving Satan-Clown tornado has swept the forum, striking down all other opinions with their own, I, along with the other humble members, are left with the sinking feeling that ''WE AIN'T IN KANSAS NO MORE!!!''

I try to stay away from forums that allow such members to go unchecked. The type of activity you discuss is not acceptable in public and is not acceptable in reputable discussion boards. One of my favorite boards (other than this one) is slashdot.org. Its old, its different, but the moderation system allows thoughtful postings to "bubble" up. Slashdot is more about nerd topics but politics is a regular item too...

If it's true then it's not un-American to say so. I don't think it's true, but that's a different issue. Calling someone "un-American" because they are disappointed with the quality of products manufactured here is pretty ridiculous.

American car manufacturers ought to be leading the way in alternative fuel burning cars. These are the industry leaders who can make the Middle East irrelevant. Brazil is doing it now. They are completely non-dependent on foreign oil.

Israel has the means to stand on its own in the region. They definitely have the firepower to fend for themselves. If they had any (balls) they'd pre-empt Iran's little project right now.

Sorry that turned into a mini-rant, but I don't want to hear Detroit bitching about poor sales when gasoline is $3/gal and oil is near $80/barrel.

Personally, I think we ought to be ashamed that a third-world nation like Brazil found a way to wean itself off of imported oil and the US can't find a way to do it. Personally, I'd rather be paying $3 a gallon to US farmers than nutjobs like Amahdinejad and Hugo Chavez.

If they want to wage economic warfare with oil, I say let's go there -- wean ourselves off of it and see what happens to their economies. The West could do far more damage to Iran with alternative fuels than they could with conventional explosives -- and we could do it without a shot fired or drop of blood spilled. They need us a lot more than we need them.
