Hi my name is Ryan, I'm from south central PA and I love to HUNT and CAMP.. I don't know where to post this so I will start here. I'm looking for an all around gun to hunt deer, bear and on occasion coyotes, without totally destroying the coyote. . Thanks in advance.

Welcome to BGH Ryan.Looking for something to handle deer and bear but you don't want to blow too big a hole in a coyote pelt. Not because it is my rifle of choice but a 270 win with 150 grainers will handle the bear
130 or 150 grainers for the deer
There are lighter,managed recoil rounds for the coyote and if you are a reloader, bullets from 110 grain to 160 grain are available.
I'm going to transfer your Post up to the Firearm Section, better chances of me starting a fight up there Laugh Laugh Laugh

well i just watched a guy shoot a coyote with a 270 loaded with 90gr bullets on youtube. dropped that cridder like a rock. didn't damage to much leaving either.

My son just went out and dropped a nice 4 point whitetail with a 270 and 130 gr. so if you can only afford to have the one rifle then a 270 is a good choice. Also the rounds are pretty inexpensive as opposed to the 6mm and 7mm stuff.

Of course I am a 30-06 guy myself but would not call it a good varmit rifle. Now a 25-06 is and will drop deer, but bear hmm I will head back and grab that 30-06.

BTW these 3 calibers are built on the same casing.

Ryan;

Welcome to the site.

What kind of budget do you have? You could possibly get a switch barrel like a Thompson/Center or a rifle that is easy to disassemble the barrel on like a Savage. Then you can get a few barrels in different calibers.

Thanks Guys, My Original plan was a .223 or a 22-250 and a 30-06 or a .243 but when I walked into the gun shop today I saw a nice .357 and a 9mm now I kind of want a hand gun. Decisions Decisions. Think
