NEWBIE HAS A QUESTION

Hi everyone, this is my first post and would like to say hello. I just purchased a ground blind with scent control. I've never hunted from a ground blind before but since I started bringing my 10 year old daughter it's impossible to hunt from a treestand. I figured that a ground blind would help hide her movements. My question is have any of you had success hunting whitetail deer from the ground. And how do you rate hunting from a ground blind versus treestand hunting. Thanks for your imput

I have used one, but am planning to get one myself.

I have seen them used on TV shows and they seem work pretty good.

They won't be the thing to use in every situation but I'm sure they will definently work when there are no trees to climb, and when you need a quick and easy stand.

It would work great for taking your daughter with you. It will hide her movement and keep the human scent at bay.

I don't ever see them being as effective as a tree stand, but like I said they have their places.

Good Luck and let me know how your season turns out with the ground blind.

If that doesn't work for you. Someone makes a ladder stand called a Buddy-Stand. It has an extra wide seat for two people and I think you can get a curtain to go around it.

NEWBIE HAS A QUESTION

Hey this is also my first time posting on here..im only 16 years old and do not have a lot of experince but i have grew up hunting sence i was 5 and did my first deer drive with my dad..
My cousin has that ladder stand that sits two people..he also has the curtain to go around it and it works great..he has shot many deer out of it but not as many bucks..
I have hunted out of a deer blind 2 times..and have shot a 8 pointer and saw many other nice bucks..i set it on the out skirt of a field on the nicest run way i could find..just 20 yards off and it has worked for me..i would rate a blind compared to a stand out of ten 7-9..i love blinds cause u can move a little more but u just have so much sent moving around..and also its kinda hard to move around threw those little windows?? i dont know it depends on the hunter i guess??

yea ground blinds work great i've hunted and had more success from and ground blind than a treestand, bow hunitng is always a challenge, getting a good shot so in some places its either cut 50 limbs and go up a tree or build a ground blind and shoot any way. most of the time i choose the ground blind and its great for taking someone

NEWBIE HAS A QUESTION

I am the mother of 4 girls..the oldest being only 8 and this her second year going out with me. THe best advice I can give you is teach her to sit still in a stand....She will have to learn eventually (well..maybe not) but at 10...she certainlly can. It is one of the most important things to getting the deer close. Last night my 8 year old and I had 9 differnt deer under our stand and not one was spooked..or winded us. SHe wears a 5 point harness and feels quite comfortable now in a treestand. If you do use a bow blind and she is not old enough to hunt..make sure to pack her a camera.....she can do some shooting of her own...teach her not to shoot the picture until the deer is with in bow shooting range...
