Where did you purchase your rifle and/or scope? I'm always looking for other shops that are in the sport.

BTW, I think getting the scope was a good decision. I've hunted here both ways and, while both have their place, the scope has helped me tag deer that I wouldn't have got without.

I bought the rifle at Hnatiuk's Hunting & Fishing in Lantz. They've just started up so their "off-the-shelf" selection is limited but they're slowly building it up - and they can order just about anything (like my BLR). They have a lot of Remingtons (various models) mostly in 30-06 and 270, and a handful of .22 and shotguns. They also have archery supplies, hunting accessories (calls etc) and do taxidermy.

The scope was from JD Shooting in Prospect Bay. He has a larger selection and variety of rifles/shotguns (new and used - including the bolt action 30-30), archery equipment and blackpowder supplies. He's also a gunsmith.

I'd say the main difference between the two shops is that Hnatiuks is more of a "hunting" shop that sells some basic shooting equipment and JD's is a "shooting" supplier that sells some basic hunting equipment.

Both were very friendly and helpful and I'd reccomend them, remembering their bias (go to JD for shooting advice and Hnatiuk's for hunting advice).

I've looked for JD's various times. How do you get to the shop? Is it in his house? By looking at the address I think it is close to exhibition park. Am I right?

It's on Prospect Bay Rd just off the #3 highway, and yes it's in his house. Coming from your way it would be easy to miss the turn off as it would be a VERY sharp right-hand turn coming from Chester.

He's only a house or 2 in off the highway and once on Prospect Bay road his sign is fairly visible.

What are his hours of operation?

Are you on dry land yet or still at sea?

I don't remember his hours - I know that he's open til 5pm on weekends and is open evenings during the week, but I don't remember the exact hours.

Just got back last night. Heading up to the camp this weekend.

Saskie,
Have you been shooting the 308 BLR lately? Are you getting used to the gun? Get a scope yet?

Got a scope, haven't had a chance to try it out yet. With the posting and all free time has been almost non-existent. Maybe now that the stand is finished I'll have more time - especially if they ever get the Middle Musq range open again.

I have not had much free time either so I know what you mean. The days turn to weeks and I still have not got to the range. I find it hard to get another person to go with. Does that person have to be a minimum age or just another person? My son would love to go.
