New Show on Nat Geo from California

There is going to be a new series on Nat Geo about California wardens.  Hopefully it will be sure to differentiate between "hunters" and "poachers".  I will watch it to see how it is.  Starts on the 28th.

Maybe, but I suspect you'll be disappointed

I looked at the link and read the information on the show and they refer to criminals as "hunters."  Talk about trapping "hunters" and catching "hunters" marketing black bear gall bladders.  So, based on this, I suspect you will be disappointed.

As a thought, if this is the case, we should all write/email and complain to them.  Might be good to watch just for this reason.

I do not get the channel but

I do not get the channel but I have seen the previews and I really wanted to catch it. I want to say that it premiered last night. I left a message for my dad to record it at their house because they get that particular channel. I did not catch in the previews that they were calling hunters criminals. Did any of you guys end up watching it? How did they paint law abiding hunters? Did they differentiate between hunters and poachers? I think that they have an opportunity to make a great show out of that idea but they can also make law abiding hunters look really bad if there is an agenda behind it. I am very interested to see how it turns out.

I watched it last night and

I watched it last night and they did refer to bear hunters but the hunters did have a tag for the bear.  Now one of the men that helped bring the bear out did have the gall bladder with him and the fish cop made him distroy it on the spot.  I don't really remember them refering to the spotlighters that they were going after as hunters but they may of as in it is an illeagle hunting activity.  The second show was mostly about tracking down MaryJane growers in the hills.  I don't remember if it was the first show or the second where they also went into San Francisco's China town and confinscating illeagle animal parts and shell fish.

The series has another show this coming Wednesday.

Bummer, I forgot about the

Bummer, I forgot about the show and missed it. The good thing is that they run repeats all the time so I will be able to catch up on it if it is any good.

I watched the first one

I watched the first one Sunday night and DVR'd the second one and watched it yesterday after work.  I think I have a new favorite show!  I guess you could pick apart technicalities and find ways to say that they didn't differentiate between "hunters" and "poachers" but at no time did I take any offense to the intent of the show.  I think it is intended to show the life and times of a California DFG Officer.  One of them on the second episode was actually shot a while ago with an AK and the bullet went through one thigh and continued through and into the other leg!  Pretty impressive that he not only survived but has continued to conduct his duties.

The bust on the kids in the preserve was pretty funny!  That one kid’s hair was ridiculous!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's episode!

Yeah Jim, I felt the same

Yeah Jim, I felt the same way.  Some of the guys on the other board felt that the show was very bad, but I liked it.  I thought a couple of the guys acted like dorks, but I think that was for the camera.  I will continue to watch it.

I have not seen it yet but as

I have not seen it yet but as long as they aren't TRYING to paint us in a bad light than I think I would really enjoy it. Let's face it, there are a lot of people out there that don't hunt that use the word hunter even when something illegal is going on just because they are not familiar with the term poacher. I think the CNN documentary on the Remington 700 was pretty good even though they made a couple slips but unlike other episodes I have seen on the firearm industry, I did not get the impression that they were trying to pull us threw the mud.

I hope that my dad was able to record the new show for me. So it sounds like there is more than one episode out now? Is tomorrow's episode going to be number three than? I will let him know to keep an eye out for all of them then.

Thanks for the heads up

Thanks for the heads up Vermonster. I was actually able to get a hold of my dad and he said that he got the first two episodes recorded. He is just recording them on VHS off of cable so the quality is going to be horrible but beggers can't be choosers I guess. I let him know about the one airing tomorrow at 8 and he said that he would have to start recording around 5 because he has to do something at their church. That will be a blast going through all the comercials and crap but hopefully it will be worth it. It took them a long time to jump on the digital cable band wagon and I think DVR or TIVO is a long way off for them. I guess I can not blame them because I will not be getting it anytime soon either but it sure would be nice in this situation.
