I have not been able to figure out the new scoring regime for forum posts. What are the details of it and how has it changed from last month's?

I am sure the moderator or
I am sure the moderator or admin will chime in and klet us know about any all changes that they made for this month.

I hope so because I am stumped at this point. Some posts are worth 300 points and some of equal length are worth 9 points. I can't figure it out. I think there just might be an added factor ha.

Well, if you read the thread
Well, if you read the thread about the December round, it says a few minor changes were made to the algorithym (sp?) and that scoring would be on a sliding scale again, according to the rules of posting. It looks pretty similar to last month. From what i have seen the first few posts I have made, an in depth reply will get you good points, while just simply throwing up a response to get points, won't actually get you too many.

New update..... I wonder, and
New update..... I wonder, and would like to have a moderator comment, if you get less points if you make multiple replies to the same thread. In my first reply to this thread, I got around 200 points, I think. I then commented in a thread about whisker biscuits that I started a month or 2 ago. It was my 3rd or 4th reply in that thread, and the response was about as long as the 200 pointer in here. I ended up getting 24 points.
If that is the reason, I really like it. This will stop people from racking up points by carrying on a conversation in a thread. I myself have been guilty of this on occasion too. But, if I am correct in this assumption, then this is a good scoring change.

Ca-V, I think you hit the nail on the head. You must have been a carpenter at some point in your life. Hahaha.
I had the same thing happen with a couple of my posts on the same thread. 200 points for the original post and 37 for the next post on that thread.

I am getting that impression
I am getting that impression too. They are stacking the odds against us pretty hard core since we have been at this for a while aren't they Vermonster . I like the change. It's going to make things a little bit harder though

Hmmmmm....I don't know. I haven't posted much yet, but I am getting 200 -450 points for all my posts....NOT.
I posted a good post and only got 3 points. Another one I got 19.
If it is as Ca suspects because I replied to an older post then that okay for me since I am not playing this month, but it will put a damper on some of the "conversations" I find these ongoing posts the most interesting. I prefer them over to the ones where someone says something and then is gone.

No CVC, in your case, they
No CVC, in your case, they just were not very good replies....
Seriously though, it appears they have taken care of the one remaining hurdle. You can create as many new threads as you want, but you only get points for the first 5. So, you cannot just keep starting threads in random sections, just to get 200 points a pop.
Looks like the only way to score big will be the stories and tips, which i am all for. Now, that means I will need to kill something Friday so I have a new story to tell.

I checked the top
I checked the top contributers and you're at the top so you must have figured this system out to a certain degree. I noticed someone that was at the top got 3000 points deducted from them. Talk about a big blow.
Even before the contest, I would stay with a topic and continue a conversation. Just like I am doing right now. Oh well, it keeps the contest interesting. Funny thing is that some posters, not you, seem to make wanting to win and figuring out how to win within the rules a bad thing. It is a contest....you're suppose to try to win

I can see the problem with
I can see the problem with some of the conversations that got off topic and only two people were in on it. But I agree with you that it is not a good idea to lower the point values for people responding to a topic that is very active. That is just going to cut down on the best topics.
