New Mexico Unit 6C Elk hunting Advice

I am planning on drawing for the first archery hunt in unit 6C in New Mexico. I have never hunted this unit but was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where to find the elk. I am curious what the elk have done since the Los Conchas fire this last summer. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!!

Hope you have a great hunt. I haven't hunted 6C since they split the unit, but I wouldn't neglect checking out the north part above the caldera. I also wouldn't worry about the burn. My experience with hunting burns a year later has been good. If you get some moisture there should be good elk food.

Hey hows it going? I do need any info you could give me. Is the forest open yet? I have never hunted 6C and am just lookin for meat for the freezer. Don't need to kill a monster bull will shoot the first legal animal that presents a shot to me. Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it!

Hunting Tip: Green Winter Plots

Winter is tough on whitetails, that is an accepted fact. You can help the quality of your herd by providing winter plots - that are not necessarily designed as kill plots. Having what I call green plots - that the deer can browse in when most of the other food is gone, can greatly benefit the deer herd when they need it most.
