All, just found this forum and wondering if anyone could tell me about Unit 15B in NEW MEXICO. I bought a PRIVATE Land Owner tag for Archery in this unit and I know nothing about the unit. The tag can be used unit wide.
I am from New Mexico. Unit 51 is in the Carson National Forest. I have never been hunting there but know that it is loaded with big elk. My friends that have gone all used horseback. This is going to be a new experience if you have never seen rough country. You may want to visit the nm game and fish dept and see if they will allow fourwheelers in the forest. You are going to have one tough time packing an elk out alone. There are some really long shots so pack nothing lighter than a .270. I would recommend a flat shooter like a .264 or 300 mag. Have a great trip!
Let me start off by saying I am not a farmer.
I am a deer hunter and I do own a tractor and have all of the equipment - but that does not make you a farmer any more than standing in the garage makes you a car - well, you get the picture!
Having said that - and with most of my ineptitude fairly well hidden - I do think that buckwheat is one of the most under rated cover crops out there.
I say cover crop because I see mixed results as it relates to the deer eating the plants.
