New Member Intro

Hi my name is Adam Raymond and I’m from Oregon.  I have been on numerous hunting forums as Blacktail Slayer but just discovered Biggamehunt.net.  The past 10 years I have been archery hunting and was a rifle hunter before that.  The species I hunt are Blacktail deer and Roosevelt elk in western Oregon.  I have hunted turkey once and got lucky harvesting a great tom with my bow.  There has also been about 4 bears that I have tried to close the distance on with my bow but things did not play out the way I had hoped.  A new goal of mine is to start building up points in other states to hunt deer and elk in the near future.  I’m not looking to hunt the top/best units in other states, but hope to have an enjoyable hunt with a chance to tag a respectable mature animal.  I went to school and got a wildlife science degree and have since been jumping back and forth in temp jobs with BLM and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.  Hope to land that permanent job soon.  I enjoy talking about game management, wildlife science, and talking/sharing about what is going on for or against hunting.  Let me know if you any questions about hunting Oregon and I can try to help you out the best I can.  I may not respond right away with having a new baby and other activities such as lifting, running, scouting, but will try to respond as soon as I can.  Looking forward to chat with you all in future threads.

Thanks prhunter.  I was thinking of starting to apply to NM but don't like how they have decreased the number of tags going to NR and not having some type of bonus or preference point system.  I'm applying and building points until I draw in AZ, UT, CO, NV, and maybe starting in WY this year.

Welcome to the forum.

As your probably learning every western state has a different system for building points or how to pay for them. I know Co, Wy, Utah, and Az fairly well but have no knowledge of Nv.

Good luck in your quest, blacktail is on my list and hope to make a plan for them in a year or 2.

Welcome to the forum.

If you want help/info with a Coues Deer hunt let me know. I'd love to pick your brain about game management and maybe we can do that over a Coke in the future.

Good luck in getting drawn and in your hunting endeavors.

PM me or post any questions you may have on game management and I will try my best to answer.  It may take me a little while to respond to your question with my crazy work schedule from now until Sept. and having a new baby but will try my best.  I may have a few questions in the future about Coues Deer.  They are on my bucket list of animals to hunt.
