I am moving to KS in the next month or two. I will be working for the department of Homeland Security and will be based out of Wichita. I am an avid deer hunter and am looking right now to live somewhere around Newton or Peabody. How is the deer hunting around there on the public land at Marion or the other near by Lakes? I also noticed there is a large tract of land near Kingman that is public hunting. Hopefully once I have been in the area for a while I will have access to some private land but that takes time and building relationships. Thanks for any help on deer hunting or any other type of hunting in the area.

Welcome aboard Bucky Big smile
Afraid I have no experience in that area either, CVC and I are further east and a bit north. I do know our state is a great place to find a bruiser though! Good Luck and let us know how it turns out for ya, or let us know if you wander this way Thumbs up

Your post reminded me to give the lady that owns that land that I've hunted the last two years a call. Checked in with her and it is still A ok for me to hunt there again this year.

As far as I know the closest member here for you would be in Manhattan, but havn't heard from him lately. Most of us are closer to the east. KC, Lawrence, and Topeka.

Try around Zenda, it has proven to produce nice bucks, and good quail hunting too!

Hey Guys!!! The guy from Manhattan is still here!! I haven't posted too much latley, but I still check in everyonce in a while. I really don't get down to the Wichita area very much at all, so I'm not much help around that area. If anyone makes it up this way, drop me a line!!! Hope everyone is having a good summer!!
