New to Idaho and new to the board.

I just wanted to say hello to everyone and that I'm happy to have found this board. I'm acctually not quite in Idaho yet I will be moving there in ten days, I am moving to Kuna. I've just been spending alot of time on the net lately reading about the fishing and hunting opportunites that this great state has to offer, and I am chomping at the bit to live there for six months so I can buy a resident hunt/fishing liscense. I've been fishing ever since I was a kid, bird hunting for the last few years, and have just bought a 30-06 and am completely new to big game hunting. I acctually have already purchased my first ever deer tag and 2006-2007 hunting liscense in the state I currently live, but then decided to move earlier than I had anticipated. I am really looking forward to moving to Idaho and becoming an active member of this board.

Thanks for the welcome redrider, and S.H. I know your telling the truth about it being awsome for the sportsman. As far as where I live now, I hoped nobody would ask. I live in Southern California. I've lived out in the high desert (about 50 miles north of L.A.) my entire life. I've seen my what used to be a small desert town change quite a bit in my 28yrs, and I don't like the changes at all. We've become the trash can for all of Los Angeles county to send wellfair recipients and parolees to because of relatively cheaper housing. Not only that but it's the kind of place where people will look at you funny if you're wearing cammo. I remember last October I was headed out Quail hunting and stopped by the gas station, the lady behing the counter asked me if I was an "army man" for halloween (and I was wearing realtree camo) eye roll . I'm just going to be a bit hesitent to tell people where I am from because I know that many Idahoans are very unhappy with the influx of Californios they have been receiving. I am going to leave here, change my plates and drivers liscense a.s.a.p and never look back, so to answer your question no I won't be using my deer tag and hunting liscense that cost me around $60.00. I don't want to come back to California for anything unless I absolutly have to.

I live in Moscow, up north. The population here is about 25,000 or so. I understand that there are 20,000 - 30,000 illegals in the greater Boise, Kuna, Nampa, Caldwell area. So some of them have beat you here.

I have traveled to California ... and my trips there have been pleasant - but I haven't had to live there. I have a certain almost kind of one-night-stand-ish relationship with the Sierra Nevadas - which are incredibly beautiful.

Welcome to Idaho ... Kuna - you will be surrounded with incredible waterfowl opportunities ... I grew up in Boise.

The Sierras will be about the only thing I really will miss. Thank you for the welcome.

Thanks for the welcome to the board Hammer, and Bowhunter thank you for the welcome to Idaho as well. I enjoy the outdoors a great deal. I do not poach, I do not litter, and I am curtious to those I encounter. I guess I'm really not much of a Californian after all Shame on You! . I'm not trying to make a blanket statement here, I know plenty of good people down here, my family incIuded. But politeness is not the norm. And I've become angry at going to my local moutain getaways only to find them strewn with trash, carvings in most every tree, and spray-painted grafitti on the rocks. I hope I'm not wrong about this but I don't think that behavior would be tolerated in Idaho. I just want to let all you Idahoans on the board that that is not at all the kind of person I am. I will tread lightly wherever I go. Sorry for the rant I'm just really excited, only nine days untill I hit the road Thumbs up . I'll have to get a non-resident one day fishing liscense shortly after I get there, I can't go six months without fishing. Oh and also on that note, I am a strictly catch and release fisherman about 95% of the time. Fishing boards is where I came up with my screename by the way. I'm not a pervert, just not very good and coming up with new screen names. That's me, Matt, a.k.a "HappyHooker", because I'm happy when I'm hooking fish!
