You might want to check with the state fish and game to see if you need a hunters education course and certificate. If you do. They won't issue a license until you pass the course. You will also get answers to some of your questions and meet some other, soon to be hunters, that have the same interest and questions.

If your military. They may make allowances for your current station.
If your at Lewis / McChord. Your not very far, east or west, from some great Bow hunting for Blacktail and Roosevelt. Mulies, Whitetail and Rocky Mountain are on the east side of the range.
Welcome to BGH and the best of luck.

no im not AF im only 16 but in 2 year im enlisting. i have a problem i sold one of my bows and am going to get a pse x-force gx. because i have been working out like crazy trying to get in the best shape i can. could i get resident tag if waited till next year to hunt. also my 82nd bow is getting really easy to pull and im thinking about getting the 80# limbs on the pse how many of you pull 80+. i know that puling more than is easy can really hurt you groups. but with 70 being so easy want to try the 80's on the pse before i buy it. also i pull 30" draw length with a d loop and jim fletcher .44 realese. so with a 420 grain total arrow mass what kind of speed do you think i could get. i dont worry about speed a whole bunch but i have heard of some fall away rests arnt fast enough. also im going to get a spott hog 7 pin and was wondering if pin distance would be a problem. thanx to all who have helped
