Welcome to the site. You'll

Welcome to the site. You'll find some of the nicest hunters and people here. I have never been to Hawaii but would love to some day. What states and what animals are you applying for? Post some stories and pics for us to see from your hunts in Hawaii. I'd love to see and read some.

Welcome

Welcome to the best hunting forum on the net, in my not so humble opinion.

Elk and antelope are tough to draw in Arizona but if you want to hunt whitetail deer in AZ I know of units that are easy to get drawn for. PM me if interested.

I just started hunting after a long layoff from it and find that I'm learning more now than when I was younger. I'm also having more fun and enjoy the act of hunting more. If I get lucky and put meat in the freezer that's just an added bonus.

Welcome to the site and good

Welcome to the site and good luck on drawing a tag. You should have no problems getting doe deer or antelope tags in Wyoming and it is a fun hunt. Was on the Big Island 3 years ago and did some fishing. Had a good time and caught a nice Wahoo and some small tuna. Feel free to ask any questions and I am sure someone will have an answer for you.

If you ever want to give

If you ever want to give Oregon a try let me know. It's not the mecca for elk like some other states but we do have 2 sub-speices of elk with the 3rd highest elk population in the states. If you archery hunt about 90% of the state is open for OTC tags for both deer and elk. For deer we have western white tails, mule deer, black tail deer and columbian whites tails. with a late season archery hunt in western oregon for the blacktails. Its alot of fun. rifle hunting is a bit different. all of the east side of the state is draw only but the west side is OTC for bothe deer and elk.

depends

You could hunt deer as little as 30 minutes from portland or as many as 6 hours from here. It comes down to what type of deer you want to hunt, mule deer and whitetails are over on the east side and blacktails are over on the west side. In my opinion the blacktail are the hardest deer to hunt in the usa due to their habitat, with that said to me it's the funnest hunting on the planet. I like to hunt them  during our OTC late season archery hunt. its during the rut so it can get pretty exciting. I live 15 minutes out of Portland in a town called Gresham, where I hunt is 20 minutes from my house. I had some real nice bucks scouted out this year but due to some changes in my scedule I was only able to hunt 3 days out of our month long season and took the doe in my avatar picture.

Keep in mind that if you want a rifle hunt on the eastside for mulies you would have to apply for a tag and you can get a tag with 0-1 points, but then with that you would have to drive farther from Portland to get into a good area. I archery hunt so I have about 90% of the state open to me and I due hunt the eastside for deer and elk with an OTC tag every year while I build my points. The early season in typically the last weekend of August till the last weekend of September. Then the late season hunt is only on the west side and runs mid Nov untill mid Dec. Hope this helps. let me know if I can help anymore. I'm always glad to help out a fellow hunter.

 Little known fact,We have

Little known fact,We have black tailed deer also in Hawaii on the island of Kauai. I guess because the success rate I think is under 5%,people usually hunt the axis deers on the other Islands.
