My dad and i are planning a trip in the fall of 2015 and i am doing some research to get ready. I have narrowed it down to unit 4 12 or 54 because you can get an otc cow tag there. I was thinking the 2nd or 3rd. any body got any info on them.
I can't help you on the units but there is no such thing as a OTC cow tag here in Colorado. There is a draw in place for the cow tags and some units have left over tags that you can purchase OTC but you can't depend on that if you are planning a hunt. The unit and season that I usually hunt for cows had left over tags for years, that was until this year and all the tags went in the draw.
If no one else chimes in here I would give the Colorado Parks and Wildlife hunt planner a call and tell them what your plans are and they should be able to help you out at 303-291-7526. Also here is the web site for the Big Game Regional Hunt Guides that you can go over for the information that is in them
As I sit and glass, which is common for hunters out west, I have sort of quickly discovered something I never learned when I was younger.
In my youth I had enthusiasm and spirit. In my middle to advancing years I have creaky knees, arthritis, and I tire more easily than I used to. Where I used to sit on the cold hard ground I now look for that soft spot to sooth my tired muscles. That leads me to my tip.
Carry your soft spot with you!
In my pack I carry an air filled, ultralight, camping pad....
