New CO state record moose?

There's been a rumor going around that the new state record was taken this year. I actually met the guy and saw the bull when he was getting it inspected by the CDOW. It is a monster bull to say the least. It was taken with Comanche Peak Outfitters. There could possibly be a dispute over one of the points and it is probably going to be very close to the current record of 196 and change. It was taken on public ground but the guy was staying on one of CPO's ranches.

WOW! What a bull

That is a fine looking bull!

Thanks for sharing the photo.

Dos CO offer over the counter moose tags or are they by lottery?

That's a beauty of a bull

That's a beauty of a bull Hawkeye!  And to think, you got to see it in person... Thumbs up

The question is, how many nights after that were you seeing it in your sleep???? lol

Mike, Colorado has a lottery system for moose, and it runs, on average, 15 years to get drawn.  Wouldn't you say that, Hawkeye?

It's a tough draw for sure.

If 15 years is the average I

If 15 years is the average I must be the one pulling it up because thats right about where I'm at.

Maybe this is the year.

It kind of depends on what

It kind of depends on what units you are putting in for but I'd suspect most people draw within 15 years. But I did the harvest inspection on an old guy last fall who said it took him more like 20 years to draw and heard about a 16 year old kid who drew it the first year he was put in the lottery! It's kind of just a crapshoot.

Yea. I know my luck usually

Yea. I know my luck usually runs that way. I applied for goats for 16 years although I think I missd 2 years for lack of funds. When I drew and ended up talking to some other guys out there most of them had 5 to 8 years in but nobody even close to what I had.

I have the same time in for sheep now also and still waiting.

Very nice Bull. That 15 year

Very nice Bull. That 15 year draw is a long time and that's about the same as it is in Maine. Maybe this year we'll draw one for Maine and get a bull close to that aye Mike? I applyed for 10 years before I drew a tag for Vt moose and now that I put the 3 years behind me I can apply again. I hope I dont have to wait another 10 years Big smile , I'm to old to wait that long. Unsure
