I was talking to a brown bear guide yesterday and he told me about some new reg. that basically says if you draw blood on a brown bear and don't ret rieve it your done. I don't know if he meant, you can't bear hunt anymore for ever or you forfit for four years. this was here in Southeast Ak. Has anyone heard of this? It was a short conversation in passing so I didn't clarify.

you are correct. i shot a grizzly in zone 17 last 9/26/2005 right at sunset. my guide said we would have to wait till the next morning to search for it since it darted into thick cover. all night i had to wonder if it was dead or not because
the guide said since there was a blood trail, the hunt was over, whether or not if we found it. it was 800lbs, squared out at 8 ft 2 inches, a real beauty. but yes
you better make a good shot or you will waste all that money getting into a real expensive hunt.
