New 1.9 trillion debt makes me ill!

After listening to Obama's state of the union address last night and then reading about the Senate's vote to raise our national debt another 1.9 trillion dollars - I feel sick, VERY, VERY SICK! The Senate purposely shoved this through before Scott Brown was seating. Knowing full well, he would vote against it.

Have all the Dems lost their minds? Why did Obama even talk about fiscal responsibility and that tiny spending freeze, when all along they planned on voting for raising our debt?

Obama did nothing but regurgitate his old campaign speeches. Are people really buying this new round of hollow promises, when he hasn't lived up to any of them to date?? Loved it when he said he'd go through the budget line by line. Didn't he promise that during his campaign? Why hasn't he been doing that already? Oh yeah, and we'll now have transparency. Yeah, when pigs fly. And definitely no more earmarks. Where did we hear that one? Oh yeah - all those months of campaigning about how how he was going to "change" how Washington does business. The Dems must think Americans are idiots!

I find this whole mess to be extremely worrisome. I really thought that after the last elections, with conservatives speaking very loud & clear with their votes, Obama & the Dems would at least move a bit more to the center. The message is STOP THE SPENDING! You'd think Obama & the Dems would finally hear the message. And who the heck besides China is going to continue lending us money?

What in the world is it going to take to wake them all up? Guess November can't come soon enough to get rid of them all.

Cowgal, the word you're looking for is "hubris" -- overexaggerated self confidence and arrogance.

A perfect example of hubris? The last recorded words of George A. Custer: "Hurrah, boys! We've caught them napping! Let's finish them up and go home to our station!"

They don't get it, and they're too full of themselves to listen to warnings. It's like watching the captain of the Titanic read the iceberg warning and respond by calling for more speed.

One of two things is going to happen: either the Dems are going to revolt against Obama, or they're going to ride this horse into perdition's flames. He won't change, because he's far too arrogant to change course. He seems to think he has some sort of divine commission.

Yes, hubris is a good description. I can think of a few more to add to that - but most I can't type here! lol

Your titanic analogy is right on. Instead of changing course, he blasts full speed ahead with his ideology, and doesn't even notice that the Americans are not on board with him. His ship is going to sink for sure. I just hope and pray he doesn't take the whole country down with him.

I am thankful that Brown won the election in MA, that should help put the brakes on this madness - at least in the Senate. But sometimes I wonder if we're just putting a bandaid on a hemorrhage!

I feel for you, here in Canada we're not much better, except we have a more conservative (minority) gov't, and it at least looks like the majority of sheeple that have been hardcore liberal thinkers/voters are just beginning to wake up to the fact all this social engineering, tax and spend philosiphy, and cradle to grave coddling that takes away all the citizens rights isn't working.

Here's a link to a very interesting US citizen't take on your situation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeYscnFpEyA
Personally I think he's got the right idea.

Maybe I'm just a cynic but I think most people are simply shortsighted, greedy and stupid. They will believe what they wish to believe. Life is all about their little world and they can't see past their own front yard and they don't think beyond their next paycheck. Their called liberals. They are so intellectually arrogant that they simply cannot fathom that they might be wrong. If they ever do, it will be too late.
