Need shotgun help! Can't reassemble!!!

My Tristar semi auto 12 gauge has functioned perfectly for a year or two but locked up. I disassembled and cleaned but now the barrel will not seat all the way into the receiver. I cant get the dang thing back together. Tried taking the trigger group out and various combinations of safety on, hammer down or the reverse. Frustrating as all get out because it should be EASY. Can't find anything about reassembly in the manual or anywhere on the web that tells me I'm doing anything wrong.

It is very similar to a Charles Daly semi auto.  Designs are almost identical.

ANY suggestions?

I am almost sure that you

I am almost sure that you have tried it but how about locking the action open and then trying to install the barrel.

I would think you need to

I would think you need to reverse no 7 and 8. Hold down that button in front of the reciever and hold back the bolt at the same time. Probably have to have someone else slide in the barrel for you. Mine works a lot easier than that, it's a SxS! That is a pretty nice looking gun other than the camo.

AT least I feel a little less like an idiot! lol

Not done yet, but here is an update.  I rec'd this reply to my post requesting help on teh same topic on another site:

"This was/is a common problem with this pump, common and serious enough that an internal document/pictograph was circulated with a specific preamble to "...not give these instructions to customers!...for internal use only...should be kept out of public view!"
**"WARNING: DO NOT PUMP ACTION WITHOUT THE BARREL ON THE GUN!**

Essentially, when the action is pumped without the barrel, the bolt comes off a pin and wedges itself into the receiver; with the bolt off the pin and sitting on the action, the barrel will not seat fully into the receiver.
You have to start the bolt with the rear down onto the pin and over the carrier (removed from the receiver), then hold the bolt with your finger to keep it on the pin; putting it all back in, leave the bolt out of the receiver by an inch and line up the barrel with the bolt.
It ain't easy..
Call 'em and demand the document/pictograph"

It disassembles a lot like my

It disassembles a lot like my russian baikal.  Like mentioned above, you need to "play" with the action while you "wiggle" the barrel in place.  I find that if I hold the action about half open that it falls in to place a lot easlier.

the fix

Turned out that there was a spring in the trigger group that had slid off where it belonged and was blocking the barrel from seating where it needed to go!  All fixed now :)  Cost me $20 and an hour of talking to teh smith as he figured it out.
