I've never even heard of a "Pending unit", where is it? When I lived in the valley and hunted it, we always liked some rain to quiet things down.

the "Pending Unit" is the mythical unit that Oregon teases everyone with, rumored to have massive bucks behind every tree and massive bulls behind every bush.... Whistling

Don't mind a little rain when hunting, but when me knees start to rust up, its time to find dryer places to hunt.  <chuckles>

Same here! You know you can hunt the dry side metolius and upper deschutes units on a cascade general tag.  That's what we're doing this year.

only for elk.

Thats only for elk wiskeyJaR. You can't hunt those areas for deer. The deer tags are draw only. The OTC cascade elk tag bleeds over to metolious and upper deschutes. Page 45 gives the map of the General deer boundrys and page 62 gives the elk boundrys.Good luck.

Lucky Guy. There are a few elk in those areas. but they're few and far between. I scout those areas all the time for when I draw the metolius archery tag. I'd recommend getting out there to scout and scout some more or your just gonna be going on a camping trip.

Oops

Right you are NN, had elk on my mind!

I know what you mean.  I live in the area and spend alot of time out in the BB, Stevens Canyon, Cache Mt. areas.  I have a couple hunts in mind but I'm not real optimistic.  I was just looking at Wyoming.  Some areas you can pull 3 elk tags!
